Id say your asking for a lot of headache, plus extra $$ you will have to outlay to complete the install, then stuffing around with teething problems, extra strain on the drive line etc.
But...
I doubt there would be fuel savings but maybe. It will not be working as hard so maybe. It will sing and go very well. Push 13psi or more and she will booty.
If it is doing the same thing with two different transmissions then I would think that they are probably not the cause of the overheating, but maybe it would be good to fit a transmission cooler? ...
