Nooooooo !, whatever you do DO NOT spray any WD40 type products on any plastic to plastic slide mechanisms, it can weld them together or make them even stiffer !
Powdered graphite is OK , but...

WD 40 or similar should loosen it up, go for it I reckon

I used Clark rubber items on mine. If you fit them correctly they don't sag. Also you can put wire through the outside to give them some stiffness.
I do prefer the Bunnings ones as they dont seem to sag like those more rubbery type ones.
But then saying that there is no give if you lean on something.
Think most use Bunnings Garden edging, Growlers the man for this one
