The set sounds ok and that voltage is normal for the battery. Even if you put a charger on it, it wil increase in voltage slightly for a while.

Using the style that came with the buggy is best. Ie: if it came with wet style batteries stick with it as the charger is designed for that. Unless the charger has different settings you can’t change...
