Turbo boost control ??????

Hi all
I have a GQ 2.8 and i decided to add a front mount intercooler to it.
I am in the process of fitting the hoses to and from the intercooler and am wondering weather the boost pressure will decrease after it goes through all the bends in the piping then the intercooler then back through the bends in the piping again.
and if so can i drill a hole in the inlet manifold and run the small boost pressure hose from there to regulate the boost controller and the fuel pump diaphram instead of direct from the turbo.
after all the inlet manifold is the last of the line ?

I don't know much about the 2.8's mate but that is the ideal spot to get boost readings.

Hopefully someone with a 2.8 can add more.

Also, make sure you take it off before drilling etc so shards don't get in too...

As far as I've been told pressure is pressure if the pressure is all on 1 side of a valve or intercooler its the same on the outlet side of the intercooler same pressure both sides just the air temp inside the piping changes which is why running an intercooler is denser on the outlet side of cooler so hence you can run more pressure & get more power.
Bit like driving in winter compared to summer. Winter air is colder & usually better for combustion.
Also bit like a tyre its the same pressure at the top as the bottom if its 30psi its 30psi all over but its not 30psi outside where you are breathing

Yeh i thought it sounded ok to try it that way but why dont they run it like that from factory ???
I just dont know weather to leave it and just hook up the intercooler or try and run the boost control from the manifold

I would just leave it you will probably find you will get slightly better response from the turbo if the line come straight from that to the pump as it will allow for fueling a bit sooner rather than as you said at the last point.

Yeh i will leave it for now but it is something that has got me thinking, and i will get a boost gauge hooked up and see what its doing.
In the meen time i will look for more information about turbos.

you can get pressure drop.
a good intercooler approx .2 to .5 psi drop say under 18 psi.
intercoolers have flow rates so it pays to know what you have, for the given task.
don't want to think about cheap "n" nasty coolers.
bends and slight changes in size can add up to turbulence and fluctuations in pressure.
these things vary so pays to have it checked by tuner

So is this slight pressure difference due to the cooling making the air denser as I was thinking as it is only very slight at .2 to .5 psi as you have posted Robo
Cheers for this info & also as youve said flow rates is a big thing

So how much can turbulence affect things, as i have used 2inch exhaust pipe to join everything so the edges of the pipe will prob create drag and turbulence (hope not to bad)
Time will tell as i am nearly finished !!!!
I just need to learn more about turbos and pressure and how it all works.

intercoolers have max efficient volume flow rates.
if say for example engine needs 1000 cc per Min.
and cooler is only rated at 900cc per Min.
then cooler will starve engine.
and this can also swing the other way, cooler to big
this is simple example to give ya an idea and in no way real world stuff, only a EG.
you need to research what you have.
best way talk with someone who specialises in these types of build/tunes.

these are things that are abit hard to give hard and fast solutions on a forum.
eg- 2inch pipe for intercooler piping sound to small and restrictive but that really doesn't help out guessing.
that's why I'm saying talk with a tuner who specialises in this type of work.

turbulence can upset a turbo performance, even doing damage in extreme cases.

can appreciate how much effort that goes into these things.
just hate to see/hear about things not working or going pear shaped for someone.
