Introduction
Hi my name is Dave and while I am now to this forum, I am not new to Patrols. I am on number 3 and looking for number 4.
I have had a G60, a good old tow truck but bottomless fuel tank
An MQ Petrol auto ... again great truck kids loved it but the wallet didn't.
and currently I have a GQ wagon, hmm petrol again but I have good reasons and it just doesn't stop.
2 trips to the Cape, Fraser and plenty of local CQ 4x4.
I will post more on the Cape trips in the right forum.
I am looking for a T/Diesel replacement I want a ute and while I like the 4.2 they are so expensive to buy. Joining this forum is a place for me to start to understand what the issues are with the Common Rail 3.0 and if they truly have earned the title "Grenade"
Any input is good input so lets start.
They are so much cheaper.
Are they so unpredictable?
Is there anything that I could do to "Grenade Proof"
Dave

Hey Tim,
The 60 I did a straight swap for a Subaru sports wagon, not quite the same but loads cheaper to run and did all I asked of it.
The MQ Ran great for a few years and eventually traded it on a 720 diesel ute while building a house great work ute worst gearbox ever ever built but thats another story
