Do you have another photo, I'm having trouble working out which part of a door that is?
Tony
rear right barn door just inside the window frame, I will put up a bigger pic tomorrow
Sorry bud, bad news, this is far more common than you would think. Its a stress fracture and it will be at the base of the window frame at the top of the door. Bugger. Off to the Panel shop mate for a weld up and touch up. Nissan will not help, sorry.
Not a really big fix but a fix all the same. get it welded before further damage results.
I am going to nissan this morning, i rang them yesterday as it is still under new car warranty and said bring it in. The guy i spoke to reckens he's never heard of it so it is going to be interesting
What size spare wheel do you have hanging on the rear door?
If it's larger then standard I would put the original wheels back on, before taking it to Nissan.
Have ya got "big" tyres if ya do i wouldnt let nissan know you were hanging big rubber off the spare wheel carrier. If not hit em up for a replacement/repair
Bugga, Dosnt look to good. Will be interesting to see what they say, and see if they can give you a reason what the cause is??? Good luck buddy
Standard size at's on it. It goes to arb in march ti get fully set up including a kaymar rear bar a 33's but the spare wont be hanging off the door.
Do you use the spare wheel as a step up to get up to the roof rack at all?
Nope, no rack on it yet, troll is plain jane until march when it goes to arb.
Just been to nissan and they have taken photos and sent us down to the panel beaters for a quote which will then be sent to nissan australia for follow up, shall see how we go. Here is a better pic of the area,,,,,hopefully :)
There can be a few factors 1 bigger than factory tyre hanging off it another is slamming the door closed with tyre hanging off it. When slammed shut the weight in the middle of the door keeps going thus the door flex's ever so slightly at the base of the window frame. Also corrugations this can happen with factory or bigger tyres.
The only way to prevent it is aftermarket wheel carrier.
Same thing on mine but its 10 years old and has a 33" hanging off it.
The barn doors are a bit dinted and scratched so I'm thinking of trying to find some in the same colour from a wreckers.
I'd be very surprised if Nissan knocked it back on warranty.
just under 4 weeks to kit out....muah, can't wait lol
