You can get a Dealer or mechanic to do it. Mine is a DX (base model) and i got genuine nissan cruise on it.
Defs go to a mechanic or Nissan just to be safe. Its not something to do yourself unless your confident.
I have cruise control mounted onto my gear knob in a dx gu Ute
I've also got a GU without cruise control (mines a ZD30), I have wondered what would be required to fit it...
I have a bit of knowledge with this sort of thing but with different manufacturers products, I've fitted cruise control to a couple of cars by simply fitting a switch and programming the necessary modules. I don't see why this should be any different, the engine is all computer controlled, there's no throttle plate...
Hi largey,
may I ask how it got there?
Would be kind of useful to know.
Otherwise I'm pleased you got a knob with cruise control.
(Don't know what my missus would say if I fitted a cruise control onto my knob :-)
Na, tell me, did you fit it yourself or did you get it installed?

There were problems with the Factory Cruise Control fitted to the manual/possibly auto ZD30 vehicles. It was something to do with the drive-by-wire setup. They pulled it from supply. Autron are now supplying a version that has actually been tested to replace this unit aftermarket and can be fitted to manuals from the documents i read. Someone on the forum has one, i just can't remember who it was.. may be worth a search if you are interested.
I was fitted before I purchased my Ute ill take pic after work and put up
Hi largey,
don't take this the wrong way but I don't think it's a good idea of posting a pic of ya 'nob on this forum,
even so it might be interesting to see what such a cruise control might look like.
However if you've got a pic of the cruise control in your truck, I'd love to see a pic of that!
Cheers :-)

bloody hell mate, that's a huge knob in your hand........
Hi,
I have a standard speed cruise on my GU-Ti 4500, however since i've got the vehicle I have no idea how it works.
Looks a lot more complicated than my previous vehicles.
Largey, that gear knob is pretty impressive... Where did you buy that from, I want one!
Thread dig.....
Anyone has an access to this sort of information, it seems that Nissan and Autron guard this information very well about ~$900AUD worth well. (the switch gear is worth like $150AUD).
There is absolutely no information available in Nissan manuals about cruise control on ZD30 and knowing thing or two about EDC (electronic diesel control) these normally come standard on most Bosch made EDCs.
Cheers

THERE IS EVEN A WOODY ONE.
My 2000 ZD30 GU manual has aftermarket cruise control fitted. I was under the dash last week but do you think I can remember what brand it is? I do know that there is a control unit, steering wheel interface box and a conventional vacuum actuator which operates the pedal through the firewall. I will have a look at the brand and post it up.
They sell a kit for the patrol.

That is well and truly a joke. The need to use an external servo which act on the accelerator pedal!?!?! WTF! Haven't they heard of EDC. Bosch EDC control units have cruise control function built in to them since 1986! All is needed are switches to send control inputs and sensors inputs (brake, clutch, speed.) This Nissan way of doing things really does my head in, what a morons!
Rant over!
