my gu iv and gq swb

howdy fellas just thought ild throw up a few picks of my trucks

ive had my gu for over 2years and been building it up ever since. so far its got

arb deluxe bar
2inch tough dog lift with adjustables
305/70/16 maxxis bighorns
diy built rear cargo draws
diy rock sliders
diy rear bar
diy extended sway bar links
full sound system with amp an sub
arb aircompressor
2.75 beaudessert exhaust
projecta dual battery system
provent 200
warn xd9000 winch with 30 meters of rope
ipf spotties
and more

now ive recenty pick up a 89 model gq swb soon to be my weekend toy
at the moment its 100% stock brought it of an old bloke whos had it for the past 15 years and has a full sevice history.
soon to have
3inch suspenion stuff flexxy kit
35 or 37s
body lift
diy winch bar,rocksliders,rearbar
eventualy a exo cage
and anything else i can think of along the way

thanks ive got big plans for the shorty gunna keep the gu as my everyday touring car and the shorty to do the hard runs with the boys

a few rear bar build pics

gdays guys been playing around with the shorty over the last week picked up a gme tx3100 uhf a second hand sony cd player and finally got my clock working again.

also nocked up diff guard during the week. and rang up about the lift kit for the shorty but theres a month wait on the shocks.

well started to nock up a bar for the shorty 2day hope to have it almost finished 2morro

G'day mate. Very nice work on that rear bar! I'm researching designs for my own bar (can't wait to delete that crappy plastic thing) and yours looks fantastic.

Is there anything you'd do differently? What size and type of RHS did you use for the main bar? Have you got any more pics you can share? Do you mind if I shamelessly copy your design? LOL!

thanks mate nah i think i like it the way it is i changed my mind 3 times during the build lol. the main part its 150x50x4 and then it tappers of to 100 on the ends. here is a link to the full build up

did a bit more on the bar today just need to make the center hoop reinforce the winch cradle finish the welding and get it painted.

also got my diff guard back from the paint shop

went and droped of the shorty and picked up my gu its been sitting around for a week or to so i went and brought some chemtec diesel power additive does anyone have any feed back on the stuff. i guess time will tell

cut out the fairlead 2day and fabbed up some recovery points just got the main hoop and to weld in the stainless fairlead to go. and went and brought a aldi winch well see how long it lasts:049:


sorry mate havent got any pics off the it installed the car is to low and there isnt enough room between the panhard and the diff. ive got one on my gu its a harris hardcase one made off plate its realy tuff and looks good check them out if ur in the market for one.

thanks fellas its fully welded and i made the hoop had to duck out to grab some tig gas and ill weld the stainless fairlead in and take it down the back to have it blasted and painted if he pulls his finger out i might have it back before the weekend.:thumbup:

looking bloody good there it good to be able to do it all yourself an by the look of the workshop you got all the gear there to be able to do it haha. i trying to do my own rear bar at the moment but only got a limited amount of gear but i think i got enough to do it haha.

well the bar is finished and on the car

fitted the winch and trial fitted the spoties

got my snorkel deliverd yesterday and my new radaitor showed up today hopfuly have it all done in a week or to then i can work out the suspension and hopfuly get some 4wding in over the christmas break

got my snorkel fitted today what a misson that was it was a ebay snorkel and nothing lined up at all the template was way out but we got it on it it turned out allright i would upload some pics but i cant find my phone cable

Be good to see some pics of the snorkel. Did yours have a pre cleaner or just straight through into the guard?

thanks mate i am still running the orignal pre cleaner but iam thinking about taking it out. here are the best pics ive got at the moment ill get some more during the week.


and i got my 3inch flexi kit last week iam guna start riping the old stuff out this week ill post up some pics along the way.

also gave the gu a bit of a clean

the backend is back on the ground and it went up form were it was sitting 130mm .
just need to get a set of lower arms and panhard rod for the rear and it should be sweet.
and realy need some spacers under the gearbox the drive shaft is on a massive angle now.


ive done a bit of calling around about drop boxes and they keep saying that you cant run them with a 3inch lift but there some on ebay saying you can is anyone else running them need to find out so i can get some on order.
