Hello,
Just recently got my tb42e started and it is running like an absolute dog, backfires out of exhaust and intake and won’t rev up.
Would anybody have any ideas?cheers

There are a few causes. Is it dual fuel? Leaking injectors can also cause it.
Straight petrol and brand new injectors
Could the timing belt have possibly skipped over a cog or two and or stretched, not sure if that’s possible?

fuel pump is stuffed
Airflow meter, when I had my VL commonwhore it was the biggest problem with 5hat motor

Crossed plug leads - check your firing order.
Now that makes perfect sense to nuffy me AB Mate, ping pong, would explain the valves open exploding with inwards & outwards ignition after TDC/BDC if that’s correct?

Brand new pump mate
I’m perplexed sorry Gentlemen, haven’t properly owned a Mogas daily vehicle in a long time. All nuffy though, if said faults are explosions throughout the exhaust and then also throughout the intake wouldn’t that described mean a donks valves are open at incorrect times?

Yup. Or unburnt fuel is getting into the exhaust. Timing is usually the main cause. The unburnt fuel ignites while, as you posted, the intake valve is open.
Cheers guys will retime it, it happens at idle and won’t rev out
i know you had to disconnect a couple of the solenoids at the back of the inlet to time them properly in diagnostic mode, off the top of my head they ran 15deg of timing at idle normally(i had an ecu talk on mine so could read the ecu in real time) to check the inlet gasket spray some start ya bastard at the manifold-head join withit running and note if the rpms change
Gotten it to run a bit better and is timed to 15 degrees btdc. And it still won’t idle properly and seems to be running pretty fat. Is there a way to adjust fuel mixture?
