That is unbelievable
Absolute madness but a great effort!!!!
What a classic!! Now that's a ferry service!!!! lol
definatly a good effort the couple bailin water out would make me nervous they do a good job considering the water flow
Well you'd think if they could show that much ingenuity in hatching a plan like that, they would build a proper barge or at least fix the holes in there boats first......
I didn't see him pay the ferrymen either!
Tim
they'd still charge $6 each way if it was to get to rainbow/ double island point
That's some crazy technique they've got going on there. I love the way they are frantically bailing water out to keep it afloat. You'd bloody hope so by the looks of that river.
now thats improvising .....
Hahahahaha that's funny as beep hahahhahahaha crazy buggers the waters probably 3 ft deep hahahaha
No sure I would risk my 4x4 to that "ferry".
I am happy to take my two kayaks on a trip and we can give this a try (my patrol will be the cheer squad)!!!! Lol, I wander how often they do this??
Given that the people on the other side were not even watching i reckon very very often! Crazy but true.
I spent a couple of years as an Australian Volunteer in Wewak in North West PNG in the mid 1990s and had to deal with the mighty Sepik River. I cant say i have seen that done but if the title of that video was not in Spanish i would have picked PNG for that for sure.
At the end of the day the Cruiser was a junker anyways and probably a public vehicle, but what astounded me was they left the back full of stuff! if they were concerned they would have unpacked it and transferred the load to the other bank first hey??? Given they did not, i reckon that is standard procedure for that crossing maybe in times of high water. The guys did not have paddles but rather sticks or poles so it was not that deep and would be forded normally i reckon?
my 2c
Brave lol.
I bought a dug out canoe along with a Peace Corp Volunteer and we paddles 200km down the Sepik in about 5 days before we sunk her trying to cross over during heavy water. That little girl did an amazing job keeping that water out, when they go they go fast!!
lol Good fun though.
that was cool. never in doubt!! LOL
They nailed the line up to the other side, great effort!
All in a days work!
Nice one!
AB your turn
Never argue with an idiot, cos he'll bring you down to his level, then beat you with experience.
That is amazing I dont know if I would be happy or comfortable with my car on there.
This is epic, it is amazing how a bit of inginuity and doing it time and time again produces results. wonder how many 4x4s were lost!
Just like driving in Asia. Some how it all just works by magic :)
perfeckt....the courage..!!!
I don't think I'd risk my car like that :P
Rather him than me!
Bush improvisation at its very best, that's Gold which ever way you look at it
Necessity is the mother of Invention!

I wonder how many times they have done that!
Your turn to cross

could you see the bridge in the wide shot
where there is a will there is a way.
Haha Brave man!
Its scary but i would love to do it
Haha, they still do this in PNG too. I've got a couple of pics somewhere actually. The main ferry (loose description) was stuffed, so they revert to the old methods.
Yikes!!! Not sure that I'd be game to do that!
