hi,
i have a 2008 gu wagon CRD 190,000km
i just recently re-greased the front wheel bearings and got me thinking should i do the king pin bearings as well or at they something that dont get service and only get replaced?
also what about rear wheel bearings? are they something i should be re-greasing?
i know the service interval for front wheel bearing re pack is 40,000km but i cant see any interval for other bearings like rear or kingpin.

Yeah you could do that, they would welcome the grease for sure. Do them one at a time and leave them on the pin and repack and refit them. The rear are pressed on and it you go to the trouble of removing an axle then its worth trying to squeeze some grease in there for sure.
Your front end is probably due a rebuild to be honest mate.
The rear bearings are hard to get grease into as they are pressed onto the axle. But if the rear axles are coming out then definitely try to push some grease into them.

Get a needle attachment for the grease gun. Will make light work of re greasing the rear bearings.

At this stage the the car drives well no wobbles but pulls slight left waiting for a wheel alignment and that might suggest offset king pins, that what the tyre shops says.. so for not I’ll wait for that. I’d hate to put new ones in and have to swap em for offset ones
Yeah they’re brilliant those needle points. I even made my own using a grease nipple, an air line fitting and a piece of 1/8th air line. So it’s slightly larger than the needle point, quicker greasing and it’s also flexible. And still small enough to get in between the bearing rollers.Quote:

Just remove teh cap and leave the bearing on teh cap. You wont need to use a needle packer for the king pin bearings. If you ahve ever repacked a bearing using your hand then use that technique, will work perfectly. Just make sure the king pins go back where they came from, if your doing them one at a time you cant get it wrong.Quote:
