For those of us there may be an answer to yor back pain . Ill be the first to try it out next week some time.
Its a load bearing MRI, as you know most MRI you lie down ,but that takes pressure off everything.
Getting it done standing up just might be the answer some of us seek, the MRI is in Epping Vic, I cant
wait. At least it might get some of us off the pills and get some sort of normallity back in our lives

That is a simple idea which makes a lot of sense. After numerous CT scans and X rays, an MRI was the only method they could see what was going on for me.
Be interesting to know how it goes.
Had all the X-rays, CTs, MRIs.
This may be the answer to sorting out some stuff to make life easier.
my nerve damage was not detectable by either MRI or CT scan but I wonder with this new tech if it would , trouble for me is it's not something they can fix without doing more damage.

Standard MRI was what thankfully finally found my squished nerves too. Unfortunately I’m not allowed to have any more MRI’s as the screws and plate inside now don’t appreciate magnets anymore!

The majority of pain though down my right side/arm was from arthritis bone growth choking nerves deep inside. They gave all that a grinding back whilst in there and instant relief from the moment I woke!Quote:

Geez MB how old are you they used slotted screws ?
Not too far over the hill as they say mate. Doc reckons the screws held in really good, he was happy, TBH never really noticed them being slotted, what does that do, better grip?

Seeing this thread and seeing what some of you poor buggas went through scares the shit out of me.
90% of blokes in my industry develop f****d backs at some stage due to nature of this job.
Climbing tall ladders and towers leaning back , lugging heavy tool bags etc...

My advice AVOID SURGERY AT ALL COSTS.
Ive had 19 just to fix the first and thats not counting all the spinal taps etc Ive had
Crikey.....they are truly massive John, you sure must be glad they’re out now mate!
The MRI for me was to see what others could not and then come up with an action plan together once found. Heavy cortisone tablet doses were trialled for 30 days and in that time my pain and function loss escalated out of control along with a horrible roid rage personal reaction.
As a last resort surgery suggested was chosen by me and has been thankfully successful for nearly 3 years now, touch wood! Of course it is unfortunately always a risk and one I was more than willing to take at that ugly time in my life.
I do truly hope this new technology kindly suggested by you John can help your situation and many others no doubt! Best of luck mate!!

Yep back pain is a bastard, and I really feel for all those that have to endure it day in, day out.
I have ok days, bad days and really shit house days. Especially when every other single joint in my body wants to join in the fun.
There's a high possibility that my vertebrae will fuse together themselves, so try to keep that at bay with exercises, stretches, pain meds and various anti inflammatorys. Although i try not to take anything if I can help it.
