Crack in the chassis...hopefully fixable

Having just forked the big bikkies for a Patrol GU Ute (sight unseen from transported from Brisbane), we were not expecting too much woe while doing the pre-roadworthy inspection. Surprise, surprise (to quote Gomer Pyle), the guys found a rough patch job with what they called a crack but I call it a hole.
It is at "R/H rear chassis in front of upper spring support above sway bar link".
I'm now in the throes of having a local smash repairs group look at it for a quote and to have it VASS inspected on completion.
I'm negotiating with the Dealer that sold the vehicle and attempting to get them to pay for the repairs. It's a delicate process, to say the least.
Not only is there the aforementioned hole/crack but also one wheel had the wrong disk rotor and the brakes might have a crook master cylinder.

I will attach a photo when I work it out with the iPad.

Nasty situation mate , bought mine the same way and had some problems but the caryard went out of their way to fix all my grievances , windscreen wasn't roadworthy , CB radio was out of the 70s and a few minor things but they came to the table .

Definately chase the place you bought it from for the cost of repairs. Or demand refund and return it to them. I'd be seeking advise via VCAT at the least. Not that VCAT can actually do much.

Not sure what the rules are in Vic but in WA you get a 3 month warranty when you buy from a dealer.

That sucks mate. Hopefully you have warranty with the dealer.

I bought the vehicle from Qld and it's 3 months from there too. Unfortunately when I was doing a quick Google search to get the phone number of the Dealer a couple of recent reviews popped up warning you off from the Dealer. I will continue with the delicate negotiating for now.

Just threaten to go to the state rego authorities seeing they sold ya a UN-road worthy car, recon they would soon lose their dealers lic if not rectified.
Even consumer affairs.

Uummmm not quite right, Cobber...

Utes are NOT covered in WA for a statutory warranty from used car dealers at all.

Cars, Wagons, Dual Cabs and Vans...
Only if the vehicles is less than 10 years old and less than 150K on the clock
There is a 1 month warranty for up to 12 years and less than 180K

If the vehicle is a Ute/truck etc... OR... over 12 years old... OR... has over 180K there is no statutory warranty

IIRC the rules for most eastern states are similar IE after 10 years or so the statutory warranty becomes a minefield for the unwary...
Qld, NSW and Vic all dump their stat warranty at 10 years last time I checked a few years ago

I must have got lucky then because my ute was covered.... I will keep that in mind for next time though.

Yep, certainly believe you.
Some/many/most Dealers have a dealer warranty they factor in, especially any mainstream outfit.
The one-off dodgy brothers yards are a whole different world

I was pointing out that there is no statutory rules/legislation/acts that require a warranty on vehicles past a certain age, kilometres or type in most/all states.

I came across the whole 'minefield' when I was looking at purchasing a campervan or motorhome about 3 years ago.

Qld, NSW and Vic all had very similar legislation as over here at the time but the eastern states stock was much cheaper.

"IF" the car was pasted for rego during the time it was in the yard or as part of the sale etc , whoever passed it knows whats coming, possibly have their rego inspection licence revoked cope fines and or have vehicle inspectors pay particular attention to any vehicle they look at for a long time to come. That's how the system is supposed to work to increase "everyone's" safety.
