Problem
What model do you have?
Where exactly is the leak?
Is it definitely an axle problem or could it be wheel bearings or universals or diff?
Need more info ( not only on the car but about yourself.....Where in Poland etc. etc.)
regards Col
Hi, I`m live in south part of Poland, in śląskie district. I`m new owner of this patrol, two mounts ago i have changed oil axle and right now I`ve seen this leak of oil. I have patrol GR `94 2,8 TDI . The leak is in small hole in wheel hub between screws for mounting wheel.
sound like wheel seals to me , im changing mine right now inner and outer seals in 89 gq 4 wheel disc brakes , s#*T of a job . but drum brakes not the same so they tell me. Good luck mate
Hi, Could You sent me some instruction how exchange this seals.
regards-radian
is it disc or drum brakes?
it is disc brakes,
GDay again Rad
Sorry to have left you for so long but I haven't replaced rear wheel bearings which is probably your problem. Front wheels yes but the rear ones I think are pressed on and the press I don't have.
Have you made any progress ?
Colin
GDay Col, No I haven`t made any progrees. Right now I see that the probem has been stoped. no oil on wheel. I will observe this thing.

I suppose that is has ben probelem with to big amount of oil in axle?? I exchange oil in winter and now in Poland is spring. You know higer temp more oil ?? Who knows?

Rad,
been away far a while so no reply, now back.
I've had 2 Patrols but not your model so don't have experience. Overfilling the diferential could cause leaking (maybe) although I haven't heard of it on the rear axle but it's most unlikely that you can do that as the correct oil level is usually at the top of the filler hole and any excess therefore simply runs out before you fit the plug back in.
Most likely is a faulty wheel bearing or wheel bearing seal, both of which cannot be repaired by the average owner as a heavy press is needed.
If it has stopped leaking you may be O.K. but keep an eye on it as may indicate a problem on the way.
Good luck
Hope spring in Poland is good this year

n.b. I am not Polish, I was just trying to send Radian some useful Patrol contacts in Poland. Not trying to be more of a jerk than usual.
It's all good guys, I only translated it for the benefit of other members following the thread.

Hahaha ... I love it!! The forum has gotten to the point where people are talking about their patrols to people in other countries in their own language!!!! Now that's progress!!!!! LOL
Going to be hellish for the moderators though ... we'll all need to be fluent in 37 different languages!! lmfao
Good work lads!!
Ok` lets back to the problem, problem has been back again. Do I need pour oil from axle before exchange seals.
