We'll be getting to Rainbow Beach Monday next week (4th) and staying there for 2 weeks. Will go on the island and camp for few days.
Mainly fishing, spearfishing and 4wdring so I'm after some local spots to fish or spear. I think we'll find enough sand to have a bit of fun in the Patrols.
So anyone know any good spots within 2hrs of Rainbow beach? Or anyone keen to drop in for a frostie or two?...ok ok a dozen or two...lol
Very tempting krisso. The only spot I know, its a little hectic, is flat rock at double island point. I dont really fish but last time I was there you used a bit of rope to help you down the descent.
Heya bloke! Keen on this, could wangle a coupla days on 8th and 9th. Drag the little camper down. Will check with the social director this morning.
Inskip Point is a good spot to camp except you may get swallowed by a sinkhole.Quote:

@Nisshead re the fishing front, check local knowledge for update on Freshwater track, do not attempt the rocks piccies on local store wall will indicate why.
Freshwater track will take you over to Cooloola? beach runs right down to Noosa north shore. Gutters should hold tailor, dart, bream and winter whiting.
Should be pipis along beach, search for raised lumps about 1/2 way between high/low tide lines.

Might be a case of checking for a decent hole thru the day and fishing it at night. Decent jew not unheard of on tailor baits.

Im not good at fishing so i dont bother, but having been to Rainbow a few times, i can tell you i don't remember seeing too many boats close off shore, so im guessing its not good for fishing near by, the other side of DI (Teewah) has some rocks n stuff, but is typically rough as, so doubt that would be good.
The only place i heard of (and i was not really listening cos i didn't care), was a bit further up at Inskip Point (only a 5 min drive north of rainbow township).
Head toward the Fraser Barge, just as you hit the last straight (before the road ends), there is a camping area on the left right on the water, a friend used to launch his boat there, and go off just to catch fish, i don't have any more info other than that sorry, but he has been going there for 27+ years and always fishes out that way.
