Awesome pics
how remote is a place like that?
Thanks TD, oddly the nearest town Bardonecchia was about 20miles away, but you're climbing for about two hours to get to a spot like this Col du Sommelier the highest driveable track in Europe!
wowowow! crazy mate, i cant believe how barren it is! why is it so inhospitable? too high? too cold? thanks for sharing mate, we have absolutely nothing like that(the altitude) here is australia
Thanks Guys, I'll post some more. Threw a few up to check they would load ok.
These pics were September 2015. Massive temp range from 25c in the valleys to 7c in the mountains, but that drops to -4c at night.
Wildlife not much, mountain foxes and Marmots ( a kind of prairie dog/beaver) that you only see in the Alps.
Basically these two animals can burrow through the hard ground and stay up there all year round.
No birds, except for small finches lower down the slopes and Golden Eagles higher up.
Here's a few more....

Equally I would love to drive your part of the world....
You'd love it from the purist air in the world and stunning scenery in Tasmania through the arid deserts
of central Aust, up to the tropical rain forests of Nth queenlsand, Then the beauty of S/W western Aust
up the west coast right up to the Kimberlies, Yep we have it all or go off the beaten track if youre prepared
for expedition style touring. Over here you need to travel light and travel smart a few have been bitten on the Butt
from being under prepared.
It's a few decades since wife & I travelled in that area on motorcycles. Stunning scenery as your pics show. Thanks for sharing. One shot in particular had me feeling pangs of envy, we didn't manage to get off the bitumen.
