Hi All.
My old girl has developed a strange knock in the front end somewhere. . . . every time I turn left or right there is a single knock which can be felt through the floor on the passenger side. It only does it when turning either direction and only knocks once each time, I've had it to the mechanics but they couldn't isolate it. I thought it might be the steering dampener but it's fine and all the suspension components are fine too. Anyone out there have any ideas?

Possibly front body mounts
make sure your wheels are tight to spec, check wheel bearing too
Had any work done recently on the front anywhere

I'll go one of your bushes is flogged out, might need to jack it and put it on stands

Cheers for the quick replies guys, body mounts are good and it does it the same on wet and dry roads, but haven't checked the radius arms yet. . . .

Radius arms for sure..
It'll be the bolt connection point to the diff..
Jump under the car with someone really bouncing the front up and down.
Bit hard 2 see in the pic but the bolt holes on the diff bracket are elongated, like Kallen has suggested

Just loosened the nuts and checked the holes. . . . and what do you know, I have elongated holes, about 1mm on each side! My next question now is, how do I fix them? I was thinking of getting some heavy duty washers the same size as the bolt and welding them to the hangers, but then I'd need longer bolts to account for the washers.Quote:

haha thats been my solution for the car i sold... didn't want to fix it
also maybe check the shocks rubber bushes if you cant find anything else
i got rid of alot of noises by replacing spring pads. mine were worn through
Did that too, drivers side was gone and squeaked every time I got in the thing. . . . the knock is definitely on the passengers side so I'll check it out when my body recovers from lying on the concrete with spanner in hand!Quote:

Check that the lhf panhard rod nut is done up super tight. I had a similar clunk which went away after loosening and retightening the panhard nut.

Depends on how much off roading its done.
Have same issue ATM turning sharp there's a front ene clunk only once, have just replaced panhard bushes and only really noticed it sence then and have already done radius arms and all other bushes but maybe due to using all nolathane there all flogging out on me will have a look when I get home thanks
Probably not related ..... but.
When I recently fitted an adjustable drag link to my 2014 Y61 I noticed a knock when turning full lock right. Turned out that I had the drag link "back to front". If you mount them with the adjustment nut/bolt facing rear and not forward, they hit the diff on full lock right. Lesson learned.
