Well, I don't use a winch hook anyway just attach my winch cable eye to the Bow shackle so using one of those just introduces another bit of kit and gives the manuf a hunjy or two
I spose the shear pin might add some safety then again maybe not... would kinda depend on the scenario

I believe mine is actually spliced on and doesn't use a shear pin at all. The rope will break before the end comes off so it will still be secured to the shackle and tree protector.

Yes it is held up against the hawse when the rope is taut. The black rubbery covers prevent it from sliding all over the place . Very neat.Quote:
