hey guys new to the site and was just wondering if anyone on here has turned a gq chassis and body or tray in to a trailer and was wondering how much it costs for the work to be done and the engineering.

It is probably only something that someone who can work with a welder and do it themselves would do... besides, the cost, which you're probably better off getting a quote off a metal fabrication shop from, the engineering would have to conform to DOT rules as a trailer bigger than 750KG. You can look those rules up for the state that you live in on their respective website.
No idea on the cost, but They look good ;)
Why waste a good GQ body and chassis... Thats what Toyota's are for :wink:
Leave the chassis and cut down leaving the fire wall, you would need to know how to strengthen and
extend the chassis rails, remove the tail shaft as well.
You'll need to have the brakes working because of the weight too.
If you do some measurments you may be able to weld another rear 1/4 cut onto the front.
I was toying doing this with a 75 troopy body,heaps of room.
I made a single cab hilux tub camper, using only the best at the time, there is not much change from $3K
Personally I think the balance will be all wrong.
I was thinking if you got a cheap rolling chassis and have a ute tray with a canopy instead of the cab

I've always wanted to turn one into a camper, cut in front of pillar retaining back doors, double bed in back with drawers/fridge underneath sliding out. Usual battery systems, invertor etc and a rooftop tent giving sleeping for 4 of the ground. If can weight it right on front use the rear fuel tank and water tank under the front to counterweight fuel. You then have 90 odd litres of extra fuel that be hooked up to independant hose and pump. I can visualise it but unfortunately not good enough with a welder and would cost a fortune to have it done. Would be a great camper I think
