Hi Guys & Girls
just wondering what brand of shocks you run on your vehicle
was looking at toughdogs and maybe rancho RS5000 not sure which way to go
have looked at that many on the computer been told ARB have a few issues with theres
any input would be helpful

I have bilsteins on mine, very happy with them, after a 5500km trip through the simmo and surrounding area they did not fade at all or give any problems.
hd monroes but only done 100km max on them not much help i know but they were cheap
I think it all depends on what type of driving your doing.
I've ran EFS, ironman and tough dog. The later two as a foamcell. Never had a problem with any. However I have heard that the foamcell doesn't like hours of corrugated roads.
Other thing is for you want adjustable ones?
I have had a couple of sets of arb old man emu shockers and never had a problem. My use is more weekend 4x4ing rather than any hardcore trips across Australia.

Bilstein are a very good shock and can be rebuilt. We fit a lot to 4wd's at work and customers are very happy.
Yeah mine are the standard OME nitro's, put them in a couple of years ago into GU7. Wife complains they are too stiff but she is used to a vehicle built for comfort, not adventure. Had a set that looked exactly the same 15 years ago in a 4runner. Haven't changed their branding in a while but reliable shocker IMOQuote:

I've got the old school ome nirtochargers in mine. Been in for years and done a heap of K's without a problem at all and been happy with them. AB's got sport, think he's been happy too. Yeah i think their maybe a bit firmer but your usually a bit loaded so shouldn't be a problem.

Cant go past a set of Koni shocks if the budget allows

Ironman, but had to get rubbers replaced after the desert trip. They fitted new, better quality free.
What type of ride are you after,?
I suppose a bit like me as soft as possible without being sloopy

Like many others I run OME Nitro on mine, that is all I have used on 3 different 4wd's over the past 16yrs and never had a problem.

Tough dog foam cell shocks, big bore type I think.
No probs so far touch wood, about 10000 ks on them. They have done corrugations but not for hours on end. Have also done some hard 4wheeling and coped well.
I did find the suspension a little firm at first, but that could have been the springs too. Now it's settled in its very good.
I run the Tough Dog 45mm adjustables here mate. No issues from me, but i havent realy had anything to compare.

So been looking and come up with Amada Xtreme Aventure shocks with a 40mm Teflon coated piston
anyone used these or know some one who has
I have the Amada Remote Res shocks on the GQ and very happy with them. How much do they want for the extremes? If you can stretch your budget to a Remote Res shock then they are the next step up for performance on Corrugations which is where you need them to function. great for touring.
In saying that though, when we did the Madigan Line the hilux with us had Brand New Remote Res shocks on his and had taken off OME before the trip, I cant remember the brand of the shocks but it will come to me... Known Brand name.... They failed. When we pulled them out in the middle of nowhere and compared to the OME the OME won hands down for strength and build quality.
The ones I was looking at are twin tube to fit the GU $120 a corner the chap from Superior Enginenering reckons there ok for what I wantQuote:

OOI didnt ARB sell a remote cannister shock years ago.
Had OME's on the last troll which were great. Went for Lovells in The shocks and springs this time, 2" lift with HD for extra weight carry and they have not dissapointed at all, handle well on the black stuff as well as off road and are not too stiff.
