Can't wait mate. So excited I love this can't get any better. Heading off tomorrow morning. Craig's hut hopefully will not be too crae crazy. All the best everyone see you when you get back. Look forward to the stories and pictures
To the million 4wd's I watched driving out of Melbourne towing campers and caravans you can have it........ Cannot think of a worse way to enjoy a long weekend.
Soon as the kids get out of school , we are out of here , I'd rather be out doing , than talking about it ! :)
Just driving south from kinglake west, and the amount of fourbies going north is astonishing. I don't envy long weekends and competing for camping spots but I am a tad jealous.
Stay safe folks !
people in west australia missed out on this one right?
yeah and you guys reckon we're slow over here..shit we're a week infront of you guys this time
Looks like no Murray river with the boys for me this weekend.
And just spoke to my mate stuck in Mansfield...
Beware for those going through there. The cops are on fire, handing out canaries like hotcakes.
Apparently 17 cop cars sitting in the main street of Mansfield right now
Yeh they were on fire yesterday and today as well. THey are also on their KTM's all over the place.
They did a boozer at the end of the peninsula hwy blocking the entire highway down to one lane. Thousands of cars jammed in and a 45 minute wait!!!
Mate just sms-ed me a pic of about 15 fourbies stickers and or clamped near Mansfield.
His got canaried but he got it home, packed his commondore and drove back up to continue their trip to campsite. Dedication.
Well I drove through Mansfield twice and didn't see a single cop. Plenty in yea though. Also what a cracking weekend pictures to follow soon
Big blitz in Ballarat over the weekend as well. TOG assisted by local police, on Saturday night alone they caught 14 on ice and another 3 others on drugs. Haven't released the .05 figures yet.
I got tested Sat arvo and yeah it was a minor inconvenience but I'm glad they are out there.
Think i did well this time, headed off early Friday, bugger all people did some more remote tracks the next day saw a few groups but not to bad, then headed home sat night late and was no one around. . . Wasn't really a long weekend away tho more of an overnighter but still had some fun! . . . I do remember saying to myself at one stage never again on long weekends. . . It can get pretty crazy.
Makes my blood boil mate. Pull me over search me for drugs, alcohol all you like... I don't mind. But specifically being targeted for the 4x4 is a bit low I reckon. I got pulled over in Mansfield twice. It's almost unavoidable. Stopped at bakery, station across the road, driving away lights behind me. Done nothing wrong... Its just they saw a slightly lifted and done up Patrol nothing else. They looked over the car quickly, not even breatho-ed me and then cya later.
Very annoying.
We were very lucky too. Lots of people around Craig's hut but only probably saw maybe 20 or 30 other 4wds the whole 150kms we did
I've posted the pictures from the weekend in my Patrol thread for those that are interested
