Never too early I say ... Who cares honestly, if someone doesn't like it, then look away.
As for retailers selling it, when I worked at Woolies back in the days, I remember one year we were putting out Christmas stuff and lights, as early as beginning of September.
How about a Poll at the front of this Thread and go with the majority.

It's pretty clear that profit from such traditions is foremost the retailers' concern when both halloween and christmas decorations are displayed at the same time.
I say it's too early for Christmas lights AB.... We shall call them Halloween lights for now until they're called Christmas lights and then they shall be Easter lights

We go by the pageant. When its on then it's Christmas.

I have some terrible news and some great news for some...
You when we upgraded the forum well.......
The christmas lights are not compatible with this new software. I can get the snow flakes going but they suck.
Never fear though folks, I will find a new plugin with lights....
