Just finished landscaping my yard and looking for a fire pit. Any recommendations? Cheers guys.
big round one
will it be landscaped to simulate a campfire out bush, Concrete in a 44 then pull it out.
make sure there are holes for your spit or fire grate poles.
They use these up at places like Sheepyards Flat in the high country
One with a fire in it, shaped like a pit...
Does that help??
like I said, a big round one
This is what I have....it does the job.
Your only limited by your imagination, what are you after?
One that's a permanent feature or something that can be moved?
If your after ideas, type fire pits into google images or click here
It may be a sorry set up, but it is 13 blocks more expensive than mine:p
For 14 years I have been "gonna" put in a proper area , but till then !Attachment 46273
The outright best fire pit is a used Cone Crusher mantle from the local quarry, they are made of solid maganese and retain heat real well.
You can crush rock for a solid 10-12 hour shift and there will still be heat the next morning. I have had to dig one out for about 5 hours mid shift and it was like being in a fernace.
I doubt it would be free though and it could weigh well over 500kg, but so worth it

Appreciate the input guys. Ben, that mantle looks the ducks guts, cheers
Like I said twice before.... A big feckin round one
Im installing a brand new quarry, they arent used yet,
Ask the local quarry if they will sell one, maybe $200, as that is roughly what a scrappy would pay.
ideally you would want one from around about a 200 ton per hour one as you could put it in a trailer.
I was eying off one in mackay from one that crushes over 500 t/h, couldnt get the bastard home.
Look here for inspiration :)
this one's for OD

Think Geek sell them but won't ship to Oz
Yea those spheres are awesome...
Here's one that can be made pretty cheap.
My fire pit at camp was a hollow stump. Damn did the burn HOT that night. We had white flame and coals at the bottom of the pit.

Might be worth a look also on Ebay now and again instead of a copper insert from the old boilers our parents washed clothes in
occasionally a cast iron one pops up about 25mm thick this would hold heat for ages, Just a bigger version than the link.
I'll try and find one for you, I think they used them in butcher shops to render fats etc.
Or dig in a cast iron Bath
ive got an old hot water cylinder cut in half (cast)
approx size is hight 4 ' wide 2'
have seen this done with the big oxy /acealine bottles also
here's one from a website on FB
saw some great ones at bunnings yesterday
like big round saucers on legs
