Hello all.
I'm dead keen on tidying up the electricals under the bonnet of my '97 TB42e GQ and restoring a bit of order. What I'm looking for is clever ways of mounting fuse boxes etc in the engine bay as the space under the hood of a TB42 is limited.
Please share your ideas......I'm looking for inspiration (have you knocked up custom brackets etc), especially from petty owners but diesels are all good too.
Lol, here's mine. The pic is from this forum but I know that if you google image "tb42 engine bay" then mines the third pic! So I just did that.
Is that good inspiration?

some ppl use small Tupperware containers to mount anything that needs to be waterproof

I put an extra fuse panel high up and out of the way on the fire wall...so just had to use a a small bent bracket to move the vacuum manifold off and out from the fire wall

nothing wrong with keeping everything clean and tidy mate...makes it easier to clean the next time and see any problems..maybe I have more time than a lot of people !...and I personally have a fixation about engine bays..though I haven't been around mud in this thing yet admittedly..Quote:

This is the winch control box. It sits on a bracket made of mild strap steel, which bolts to original holes on the firewall and guard. The box is waterproof and is accessed by four easy screw locks and is way tougher than the original winch box. It would be a good way off fitting relays and other gear to weather proof it all. I have put plastic sheath on the cables since then, too.

Agree with keeping it tidy. Nothing worse than digging around an engine bay and fighting to get around wiring and the likes. Loose wiring has a habit of rubbing against fittings and the likes and shorting out. A good trick with the wiring conduit is making sure the gap faces down as it will act as a channel for water and you will end up with water inside the cabin. Went for a drive with a friend and he complained about dripping water on his feet...a quick twist of the shrouding of his spotlight and UHF loom and fixed it quick smart.Quote:
