Are you 100% certain its the computer? Vary rare for them 2 go.
Where are you located?
hi, I am sure it is dead as I put the computer from my patrol into my sons patrol and we got spark and pulse to his engine. I tried his computer in my patrol and no go for my patrol.
I am in north east Victoria
Kevin is yours a Manual as well?
I got a price off a guy last week for one at $200....

thanks, It is a manual
did you buy it or is it still available?
Was the car drowned before the problems started or has it just failed?
I have read of someone taking the ecu apart then sprayed with electrical contact cleaner, tooth brushed and dried and put it back in and it solved there problems with failure of engine spark.
Maybe its just got some bad / burnt soldier
Never tried it myself though.
Edit: Personally if he has the money to spend and plans on keeping the trol he should look into a new aftermarket ECU, heaps better than the original ECU's but they do come at a price
We have had major problems trying to get it to run on petrol (http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...tinuing-to-run) and somehow we have killed the computer.
I have opened the computer and can't find any damaged joints.
At the moment he is thinking about getting a donor 4.2 diesel gq
good news computer is working now, don't know why but all seems good, so no we longer need a computer.
Got told that the GQ ecu once drowned can be dried out and used again???
I have not tried to plug my old one in to test that.
Was not true in my case and same with my brother-in-law. We sprayed his with contact cleaner and it worked for half a day.
Mine did it, my bro-in-law's did it, my mate's did it and my mate's old man's did it.
So that's 4 out of how many Patrol's you know were made? But I wouldn't call it a common fault. Yes a sh!t location 2 have it and if you were 2 get a windscreen leak above it it would probable would fail just like it would probable fail driving your 4b through a river and getting water into the passenger side foot well 1 2 many times *L*
I don't know the story of every other Patrol that was made, it's a pretty common problem considering.
