How the bugger do you.......

Afternoon all,

I did my first service to the troll over the weekend......yes a lil bit of oil may have been spilt, but other than that all was good..........EXCEPT...........How the hell do you remove the fuel filter, I talked to it nicely, tried to spin it of gently and then had to up my scale of escalation to force and still no luck. A mate at work said use a screw driver, but I am a little hesitant. Can I use WD40 around the top of the screw cap area.

Any tips would be great

Wd40 won't help, the thread is inside a seal. Do you have an oil filter wrench? Screwdriver straight through the oil filter does work wonders but is very messy.

Poo Bear, he is asking how to remove the fuel filter not oil filter *L*

Take the whole unit out and put it in a vice then use your stilsons on it

yes but the fuel filter is a very similar element ;)

mate unbolt the whole housing from the bracket, invert it, bolt it back to the bracket upside down with the fuel filter now in the air and easily accessible. Use your Oil Filter wrench and away you go

Thanks for the tips fella's. Yes I even tried the oil filter wrench, but still no luck. I take it I can remove the lines & I should not have too much fuel spill out.

If not, I might try that tonite

Don't see the need to delete it mate, but if you really want it to be deleted let me know

ALL GOOD, I THINK I CAN NOW CALL MYSELF A FULLY FLEDGED BACKYARD DODGY MECHANIC. I just changed the fuel filter, thanks for the upside down tip. Worked well. All in All, I think I am starting to like the self mechanic thing, saving me lots of $$$ and I am getting learnered at the same time.

Double thumbs up to me, hehe

I leave the outlet hose off the filter housing to prime, and stick a cup under the fitting to catch the fuel and air bubbles that will come out , once its ok then I fit the hose back on and a half dozen more pumps of the primer till firm .
