G'day - I've just spent an hour rigging up an anderson on the plug on the GU. Got it all completed and did a check of the voltage at the plug and it was 25v...
So I went and checked at the battery and it was also 25v...
Any clues as to what the issue may be?
I have no dual battery set up to confuse the issue and I did check the multimeter and it was working fine.
You only have a 12v battery got me beat, thinking re check setting on multi meter
also thinking impossible as my son auto lec sitting beside me. was motor running??
Multi meter needs to be on 20 volts
yeah I'm thinking I might try that - it is bizarre
How did you check the multimeter?
25v is not possible. (You don't have a solar panel connected without a regulator do you?)
Try your multimeter across another battery in another vehicle.
Is it still reading the same?
Did you connect the Anderson plug to anything? Camper etc that might have a battery in it?

Checked the multimeter on another battery and it seems ok...
Need to check it on the wife's car when she gets home.
Spoke to local auto sparky who tells me there are no 24v Gu's (safaris were 24 v)
What confirmed the 24v is that I work in irrigation and we use 24v solenoids. The battery will activate the solenoid when I touch the wires to the terminals
I will let you know what I discover because everything else in the car is 12v and working fine

Ok - just checked the wife's battery and its chucking out 24v also - so it has to be a dodgy multi... you'd think...
but the wife's car did also activate a solenoid valve so the puzzle isn't over yet
Try replacing the battery in the multimeter and then recheck.
12v will activate a 24v solenoid with no load on it. Different story if it has load on it though.
Has the battery got 12 cells, hate to think what damage a 24volt battery could do

Is it set to DC?
Can you get hold of another one?

Are you sure your meter is set to measure volts DC? You may be measuring it using the AC range.

Set it on DC and all is sweet as...
