For those of you within the BCC they have inspectors going around door knocking today, checking for unregistered dogs and cats.
Well on the south/west side anyway.

They did that to us last year in western suburbs of Melbourne. Werribee area (Wyndham council are a bunch of ........s!!!!!!)
My policy is, if you don't drive your pet on the road, it doesn't need registering.
Another useless tax we pay!
I got caught with 2 dogs last year $300 fine damn it....lol
I'm pissed that I had to pay a one only fee to register Axel my healer and all the fing neighbourhood cats roam free and are not registered plus the catch and kill the birds around here.
If my boy got himself a bit of pussy I would not be upset. Damn cats roam the place setting him off barking at all hours, if they were kept at their owners place I wouldn't care about them but when they come to my yard thats different.
Been thinking about getting a cat trap but what do I do with the bugger then?
Paint a target on its side and tie a note to its collar saying next time it gets into your yard it may not make it home.Lol
Brilliant idea.
Had a mate having trouble with a pair of Labs pestering his cattle. He approached the owner who said they wern't his dog doing that, Col said "you wont mind if I shoot them if thats the case".... never saw them again!!!
I wont keep sheep on our paddocks, because there are too many dogs roaming around. I have found that goats are better at protecting themselves from dog attack.
didnt know cats hadto be regestered
So what do u get for the fees ? Free delivery if they go walk about :beach access like the rest of the rate payers ; invalid parking if they are a bit old ;kisses and cuddles when the council puts on fire works and maybe all animals will be treated the same when farmer Jones cattle or sheep get out they will pay the pound fee Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!
Sorry guy`s but I`m all for registration of dogs and cats as there are to many irresponsible owners out there and being able to track owners down when an animal attacks a child or is on the lose and causing havoc is good.
Yep it's just more revenue raising. I was actually surprised that the inspectors were out of their vehicle and walking up and down the street knocking on doors.
With dogs we have to pay a yearly fee have done for sometime now, with cats it only been in for a year or so.
I'm guessing that's why they are going to the extra effort trying to catch all the cat owners out.
Lucky they didn't hand out fines......$300 ouch.
Macca if you catch them you can take them to your local pound or RSPCA.
So, it's pay up, or pay up?
It's has nothing to do with making owners more accountable it's purely revenue raising.
All my animals are desexed, microchipped and confined to my property.
Just don't see how taxing all pet owners will somehow make the irresponsible owners suddenly become responsible.
Bring back television licences I say.....then we are totally screwed over! It was an idea they kicked around for a while !
