i have just fitted the EGR block plate as recommended on this site. i have read various reports on the benefits in regards to cleaner oil ETC and some claims to better performance. since i have fitted the plate i believe i can feel and improvement in power particularly around the mid range and also the gearbox appears to be shifting better (quicker), is this my imagination or is this possible with this mod?
just fitted the EGR blocking plate, after reading the benefits on this site, and after talking to some patrol owners this is a common thing to do. is there anything else you can recommend that is a must do
Before doing any motor mods, as we dont know what you drive etc,
is fit a pillar pod or dash pod fitted with EGT and Boost guages.
THEN after any mods made buy you or anyone else can be monitored.
Here we call it NADS, Highly recommend again depending on what you drive
Give us as much info as possible.

plenty of pics and notes that may answer all your questions. Blocking EGR uses exhaust gasses now to turn turbo hope I got that right

After just fitting the egr plate i highly doubt you would notice any difference in the car at all.
After all the other mods are done Dawes and needle then it will be a different car to drive

there is only so much you can do to a 3Ltr turbo Diesel motor

performance of mine, now its NADDED.

umm good point, i have a 2003 3lt turbo diesel, no extra gauges the car is basically standard, we have only had it a few months so we are in the early days of modification. it only has 150k on it so there should be plenty of life left in it.
thanks for the info. i thought the boost and EGT gauges where for the earlier model GU due to the issues with over boosting (my patrol is 2003) is this recommended for all model patrol, i also thought the Dawes valve was for this problem as well, but below WYLD333 states the car would be a different car to drive, in what regards?
Wyld the glow plug timer mod lets you control how long the glow plugs are on for. I think, i think, they continue to stay on after the car has started for around 3-5 minutes. I can't remember the exact time. Anyhow having them on too long tends to kill them prematurely, plus the extra heat in the cylinder mustn't be that good for the engine too. So there is a mod to override all this. The timer can be had from Jaycar and the wiring isn't too difficult I believe. I haven't done this mod. I probably should but as always there is other things on my list.Quote:
