Nobody wants to insure my GU for agreed value. Market value is (apparently) between $10,000 and $15,000. I looked for months and coulndnt find a patrol for that sort of money.. Anyway, even though it is only slightly modified no one will touch it. Who do u guys use? Have tried Shannons and Ryno, as well as the usual. aami etc. They all say it is too old and not worth the money. (idiots) Like to see them buy one for under $15,000.:mad:
I've forgotten the name of the company but there is a specific 4WD insurance that is only available to 4WD club members. The premiums are up a bit but you get better coverage.
I'm with RACQ, never had a problem with them covering my car, but never had to make a claim either.

And if you are a member of a club that is a member of yoour states 4wd assoc you can get your troll insured through TCIS as stated above

Hey mate - what mods do you have and have you told them (Allianz)?? Reason being (and trying to assist you just in case you get caught in a jam) is that I had my insurance with Allianz cancelled yesterday (literally) after updating them of my suspension setup. They (unlike NRMA, Suncorp, RACQ, etc) will not insure the vehicle if it's had more than a 2" lift - ridiculous thing is (and I mean f'ing ridiculous) I had a 'saggy' 3" lift previously which they were aware of and have been covered for about 6 months, but updating the policy to include the new setup which is closer to 4", they have knocked me back and I am now on the hunt for a new insurer ... you might be fine mate, but seriously worth checking because if you have an accident and you are over 50mm (which they say needs to be "insured by a specialist 4WD insurer") then you may find yourself in a world of pain ... my best mate (I was his best man, he was mine, god father to my children) is an insurance broker and does all my insurance and this came direct from him yesterday!!!Quote:

I got mine through CGU on agreed value they are worth a call, plus I got the extras added on to it.

TCIS will underwrite the deal through a range of suppliers, but the reason they do it, is they slash the market value for insurance payout and then allow 50% in modifications - i.e. with Allianz, my market value was $10,700 and had an agreed insurance value of $15,000 due to the modifications ... the minute I informed them of a bigger lift (over 50mm) they could no longer do. TCIS quoted me a decent enough figure for the premium, but funnily enough, they underwrote through (wait for it ...) ALLIANZ!!!! The market value for the quote was $6,200 which meant I was allowed to add $3,100 in modifications to allow a total agreed value of $9,300 for the car ... RIP OFF ... for about the same premium (about $50 less actually) I got a straight agreed value through AAMI of $10,800 ... still not the best, but better than TCIS.Quote:

Just an update. RACV seem to have the better deal, they went agreed value at $16,800. Still want to do better, but some cover is better than none. As for mods, RACV say that as long as Vicroads say the car is RWC with those mods, it is good enough for RACV. So the lift ect is covered.

I'm also with RAC with an agreed value and also extra for the bar work.
there are GU's out there for under $15k. i just paid $11.5k for mine (stock as a rock but).. mines insured with RAC for about $12.5k.. i think the max they would go was about $14k..
i found SGIO to be good for agreed value with my HSV.. the most RAC would insure it for is $23k. but theres 4 SV300's for sale at the moment Aus wide and the cheapest one is $28k & thats got double the kms as mine ! SGIO came to the party with a max of $32k agreed value... maybe give them a go
THX for that. One thing I have noticed that cars are cheaper in the west ! Mine had a few extras and low km's, so I was willing to pay a bit extra. I was told by an Insurance broker once not to touch GIO with a barge pole. They would only offer $9,900. Will keep looking, see what happens.Quote:

got both my Nissans with Allianz never had a problem last claim was $27,500.00 after i hit a cow, they paid up not a problem on the spot.

Here for insurance in the amount 8287 need to do contribution about 690. (write in AUD)
I think here that there is not a problem do make an insurance for 100 000 (the insurer will get the money), but if something happen, they just won`t pay the whole sum...

I think I get what you mean. If I do understand then here in Aus it is called underinsuring and it means that if you are under insured by say 25 % and have an $8,000 loss then the Insurer only has to pay $6,000. For example if you have $40,000 exposure and insure for $30,000 the the Insurer doesn't have to pay the full amount of any loss up to $30,000 but only 3/4's of the loss ($30,000/$40,000) prorata.Quote:
