Is it an auto gearbox?
Yes , 97 GU ti 4.5
I dare say one of them is an oil transmission cooler being an auto, not sure which one it is, but you should be able to follow the piping.
Hopefully someone else on here that has a GU might know what they are both for
also..... both could be coolers for the auto
in the pic, (B) goes from left to right of gaurds in 2 sections
My guess is...
A is probably an 'extra' Auto Tranny Cooler or possible an oil cooler
B (if as described) is your power steering heat exchanger
A is trans cooler and has 10mm rubber hose attached to it B is power steering cooler and is steel pipe and its heat sink is strips of steel yeh?!
Power steering cooler????
Is that just a GU thing???
Never heard of a power steering cooler before??? Other one will b tranny cooler
There's one on every GU that I can recall but must admit it's not something I go looking for... and it's been a while but I could almost swear there was a factory one on my TB42EFI GQ wagon as well... not 100% on that now as too many beers ago.
On a ZD30 the pipes travel from the Power Steering on the RHS down and along behind the radiator and then hook up and thru the front on the LH side below the air box. The fluid travels thru the cooler twice in effect because when it gets to "the other side" it loops back and comes out on the LHS again.
Power steering coolers are used on heaps of cars, often they're just steel line rather than having cooling fins.
We used to fit them when we fitted heavy duty tow bars on some models.
Might be som thing nissan fitted knowing their trucks will be used to pull some sort of float/ trailer and driving at slow speeds that need alot of steering movement so the fluid wouldn't heat up expand and leak out. You could put it on a GQ if you really wanted to and i dont think i would do any harm.
I'd guess the trans oil cooler is the middle and air con heat exchanger at the front. It should run to the condenser.

Wading thru the Factory Service Manual (for what it's worth sometimes with the aussie variants) chasing info on another issue and the Manual shows all GU's with a Power Steering Heat Exchanger mounted in front of the A/C.
