Hi all, excuse my newbieness but what does NADs stand for exactly?
N issan A nti D etonation S ystem.
Cheers, the ferret.
I think it's Nissan Anti-Detonation System. A system developed by the guys on here to stop your 2000 on model 3.0L turbo diesel from literally blowing up.
I think there's a thread on here called Snicko's doing the NADS. Type this into the search function and it should explain everything you need to know.
Look here I decided I have 10 seconds up my sleeve for you lol http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...doing-the-NADS

Fit it or your z30 may go kaboooom. may be, first fit EGT guage and boost guage pillar pod or other wise. Now you have guages telling you whats happening under the engine cowl.
It cheap, affordable and the single best thing you can do to a Di or even Cr 3 ltr. DON"T do any MODS till you have GAUGES fitted.
Gee td dont scare him, mate it will give you peace of mind
and as td says it will let you know whats happening under the bonnet
This is a good read

nads hair removal cream lol
Ok I'll re phase, instead of your computer telling your ecu what to do, you take that away buy fitting a manual boost controller. Now you set how much boost you want and.
now YOU have total controll over how your 4x4 acheives boost, still the single best mod yoy can do. You'll get great great piece of mind by fitting the DAWES and needle valve set up.
with a catch can you can look forward to many years of motoring, plus the EGR block too,. Does that sound better Roofy? really best mod you can do
Thanks guys, Nissan Anti Detonation System, that doesn't exactly inspire confidence lol, but i still like the ZD30 and they are cheaper than a 4.2
Its a good piece of mind system really. But yeah as TD said, get the gauges done first. No point fitting the dawes when you can't see what pressures to set it at. If you need a Dawes, gimmie a pm, I have six left.
Having read Snickos thread and many others on here, is this problem specifically related to the 3.0 or does it effect my 2.8 as well?
No only the early zd30 2000-2003 I believe

That is a relief, thanks.
I think the biggest thing is to ensure the timing belt/chain is replaced at the correct intervals

Thanks bud.
Timing belt being done in the new year, also got some MAF cleaner on order, anything else that is problematic with this engine or any thing that I should be wary of?
I'm a td42 bloke but hopefully after the chrissie break more members chime in. I think they are prone to head issues as well so maybe something to be wary of ie warping if they get hot
