Got my new BFG's last weekend and schooled the guy up to do a good balance job. He suggested a packet of "Equal " performance tyre balance powder (6 oz) in my 285/75/16's and the tyre will continually balance it self. Damn me no wheel weights and after 500 metres at 80 k's the packet breaks and all shaking stops - smooth as!!
Fair dinkum, I thought a out it but never tried them.
Wtf?? Not equal as in the sugar??
Does it work with all tyres? Or just the bigger ones?

Hey Robo good question- makes sense it could shake untill the stuff spreads around eachtime. So far I could say I've noticed a slight shake ( v minor) at around 40 -50 K's but quickly dissapears!
Hey BigGQWesty -see web sight below apparenty it is a polomer. The tyre guy looked up a chart to get the amount to use but am aware he had 3 oz and 6 oz packets
If you have tube less tyres couldn't you simply DIY.
support axle.
remove valve.
open packet.
pour inside tyre through valve.
replace valve and pump up again?????
apparantly they used to pump the stuff in through the valve - surley would be easier to break the bead and push the little bag in and pump up.
Pretty sure you just pop bead break the bag then re-seat it, been around for years. Think Staun make it as well
Just a thought about adding it without breaking the bead.
If you could buy it by it's self,without having to pay someone to put it in. DYI.
Hi I used this stuff on a Prado, didn't do anything for it, still had the shakes. Also if the powder gets wet it clumps . (gets wet by blowing up tyres on a wet day, water gets in the compressor then blown into the tyre) I used this stainless steel balls ,,works really well ,http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/TIRE-BALA...item4d05b30368
Sounds like a better option.
Remember to, these are more suited for knarly mud pattern tyres 33" to 37".
so not for everyone, personally I've never tried or needed them. Most good
4x4 shops that know their stuff should be able to balance your muddies
How accurate are they?
I've always had issues with weights coming off when against rut walls..

At last balance the tech told me for some reason the wheels balance better if on inside.Quote:
