Looks good mate but maybe a little steep in price maybe 8k???
Yeah i was going to try for 8, maybe 8.5.
got the old boy looking at it sunday arv hopefully.
It does look very tidy mate....For that price though you would want maybe a 100,000km's knocked off the dial. Obviously 326kms is fine and will have plenty of hassle free years to come but as said above, try and get it for 8k.
If not, keep looking I think. I got mine for 10k with only 215km's....Unfortunately It's a waiting game!!!
EDIT: 8.5k would ok too mate...Go for it.
They've put a lot of money into it to sell it? Maybe there's a member that lives close by that can have a gander?????
If you decide to buy it, don't forget the REVS check, before any papers get signed and/or any cash is handed over.......
..REVS?
And if any close by members see this can you please private mail me! Its in the gap, bris.
Looks ok $6500 remember big milage worn internals
Just saw it came with a RWC too. Probably not bad if you got it for 8.5k mate.
Yeah i need something reg and rwc, cause i have to drive it back to townsville :p
According to the revs report its only done 21000k in the past 3 years >_>
I forget what REVS stands for, but you can ring the hotline and they should be able to tell you if the current owner owes any money on it and if there are any buying restrictions on the vehicle, ect.
That's about my knowledge of it. Last time I checked, it's free for a verbal and $10 for written confirmation.
You don't want to inherit any debt or have the debt collectors knocking on your door.
Ring them and ask them. Make sure you give them a rego and preferably engine and chassis numbers.
I just did it online and it said it was all smoothe, cost 30 bucks, but i'd rather not get ripped off. Gave all the necessary info about the car.
also, with 326000ks on the clock, do you think the engine would be on the way out?
TD42's are a strong motor mate. You would ""expect"" to see little problems up to 500,000 easily if looked after with correct oils, etc.
There's plenty getting around in the 600,000's. I know one that has 1.2 million and still going strong. If you do get it and decide to put turbo on then I wouldn't run a high boost on it that's all.
It's a pre 91 DX. Redbook gives a 1990 DX TD42 a price guide of $4,900 - $7,100. Less as a trade in. Looks tidy yes but not worth the asking price.
How do i know its pre 91 DX? The tail lights are a giveaway and the vinyl trim and 60/40 rear seats.
So he's lying about it being 95?
Yep No rear head rests and no flare kit, she's a basic DX and i recon way over priced mate. you will find one but that guy is hitting you up for the TD42. Tell him he's dreaming.
Doesn't the REVS check say what year model it is?
I am not sure about the laws in queensland but be careful with those 32s. In NSW they would need an engineers certificate to be legal. In NSW anything over 15mm increase in outside diameter over the standard wheel and tyre combination (the size written on the tyre placard) must be engineer certified.
Some people just don't care. If you get pulled over by the police they might be interested to see your certificate and more importantly if something goes really wrong and someone gets hurt and they are not certified you might have been driving an unroadworthy vehicle and could be in a lot of %$&*. It can also give the insurance company a reason not to pay out. Most insurance companies don't care what you do as long as it is legal and they are notified but go over that line and you might find them backing away pretty quickly when it comes time to pay out.
You might have already looked into that or don't care but i thought i should mention it.
By the sounds of it i think i'll give it a miss. Was so keen too! haha.
EDIT: Although, even on the revs check it says its a 1995 model..
If you've made a decision, let it go. There'll be another one out there waiting for you.
Take care.
Rossco
i was looking for over 9 months. Looked at heaps and all were dissapointing in some way, legal issues, mechanical issues, overpriced etc. It was a pain in the $%# and i got really annoyed and frustrated. When i was still waiting i was thinking maybe i should have got that other one and then i would remind myself no it was &*#! or it had this issue or that it was overpriced. You have to live with what ever you get so you have to be happy with it. Stick to your guns and hopefully something will turn up soon.
You could come to the MQ/MK dark side.....

What are opinions on this? Except I don't know if it's petrol or diesel yet.
Not sure how it works over East, but do you need to pay for rego, etc, on top of the asking price? I notice it had no number plates?????
It's a petrol Brendan,
It has fuel injection.
Nice looking rig though.
Yeah I just found that out on their sites, dammit.
Had another look at the DX and yes the tail lights are post 91. Sorry if I confused anyone.
BTW redbook values a 94-95 model DX TD42 at $7100 to $9600 so the asking price is in that range
