I have a GU 7 Y61 3LTD CRD Patrol with 3" exhaust and snorkel and considering installing a pyro.
Can anyone please advise a good reliable brand of meter?
(If its worth it, I might install a DP Chip further down the line).
Thanks ..............

VDO (most expensive), Auto meter, Speco to name a few or you can get the digital industrial style with alarms.
They are all fairly similar really, VDO and Auto Meter are prob the two most common
^ ^ ^ ^ ^ x 2 .
I've got Autometer but the others mentioned would be worth a look. Stick to a known brand and you'll be right
V.d,o are good staight foreward install
Thanks for that. i will check out VDO & Auto meter..... Thanks again
ROFL...
thats forum shorthand for "I agree with the info in the post above" or "that makes two of us" rather than spruiking the same info all over again :trink13:
EDIT which I could have done to Mudrunners post above this 'un but chose not to because the smarmy bugger was quicker than me on the post button and I don't want him to have the satisfaction
or you could go compact and digital, if i did it again i would seriously consider these as i have read great things about them and they will fit in lots of places without big pillar pods and stuff
Ebay - Digital EGT gauges
Or from a supplier
www.scintex.com.au - Digital-Gauges-Sensors
Yeah, those digital industrial style are great for the alarms as when it gets gnarly sometimes the EGT is the last thing one looks at when the red mist appears... but can't beat an analog for seeing the trends tho.
The LED/LCD combo ones could be the go too. I stuck with a VDO 'cause I'm a cranky old fashioned bugger but either way there are heaps to choose from eh...
Can anyone advise what celcius temperature range I should monitor with a VDO gauge. The gauge I'm looking at goes to 900 celcius.
900 celcious max is plenty . see you have a crd 3lt with 3'' exh . have read on this forum the crd run fairly hot around 600 ish but the bigger exh should help you keep it cooler .
Thanks for the replies. Have purchased VDO pyrometer and will get a Booster as well. What temperature range should the Booster gauge show. I have seen 15psi and 30psi????
Hi, Also getting a VDO Boost Gauge, have seen gauge reading to 15psi and 30psi but I don't know which would be better. Would appreciate some suggestions.
If you set up Dawes and needle it will only ever spike to around 18psi, but mainly max around 15/16 psi so I would get the one going to 30psi for a bit of headroom so to speak, this would also alert you if something went badly wrong and you were getting over boosting for whatever reason
