Ok so you buy a new rig and you dont really know the histroy of the thing ( only what the seller told you and they are ALWAYS honest arnt they lol) as a precution what parts would you change over to be on the safe side. Obviously oils and the like and Im going a complete set of cooling system hoses as Ive had an issue in the first week. But what else would anyone change to be on the safe side?
Fuel filters, belts, check battery levels, power steering oil and levels, fresh coolant / hoses / heater hoses?, oils in diffs gear box and transfer case and engine like you said.
You know where you are at if you do that stuff.
Cost a bomb but piece of mind is worth it I reckon.

Depends how many k's the vehicle has done but definitely all oils, filters and grease to start with. Any maintenance history on the vehicle?
You might have to look at hoses, bushes, suspension, brakes and the like if they look in bad shape.
Well going on my last drama, I'll say it could be worth checking CVs and bearings. Mine had only done 80000 and all was not good :-(
Its done 300,000k and don't know the maint. history so i think Ill be doing the lot... sure beats being stranded in the bush somewhere.
with all the great info stated above ill also be getting the radiator rodded asap mine was 90% blocked
What model do you have? Diesel or patrol? Besides the other suggestions, I'd consider fresh glow plugs or spark plugs, maybe change out the coolant.
It's a petrol (TB42e), Yeah the coolant will be changed with the hoses, mat have a look at the plugs too
