Now i have a gu patrol.
Can anyone recommend ridge rider high lift jack.... or other jack suitable....
( owners manual mentions not using a different cars jack) but i assume u guys would b all over what to recommend

IMHO don't buy a Hi-lift, buy an Air bag instead.
Heaps more versatile, lighter and safer plus they will usually lift the vehicle twice as high anyway.
If you do really, really want a Hi-lift for some reason then get a 60 inch not a 48
Have to agree with ET on the the high lift there heavy unstable and dangerous
an air bag would be better

Agree also with all above, dangerous bloody things if used incorrectly. Have nearly come a cropper many times myself with cheapies near wacking my jaw off upon lowering. I think the 'Hi-Lift' (AB which ones in my shed?) named brand was the most stable used and still have it, take it along. The 'Jackel' I've thrown away in the corner, twas a death trap without CRC by the megalitre! They do have a place in the bush, I have used them to deliberately fall over when side tray mounted over logs, not so safe but does work :-( !
Had a HiLift for 35 years, it has been handy lifting our various caravans with a flat, on to stands or the tow ball, pulling fence posts out, all sorts of jobs and its even lifted the 4B to put rocks under the tyre or swap a flat.
I'm a fan of them but they are dangerous so I'm told. Mine has only ever done what I wanted it to.
Ah it was 2nd hand when I bought it for $20.00 too.

I should say i'm after a jack for changing tyres, not vehicle recovery...
