The wife is looking at going to Tassie in early January.
Going over by boat and taking the Patrol along.
Question is what is the best way to stay and travel around. Looking at staying for a week. What have others done.

You could go around to St Helen's and have a look and while you are there you could go to Bay of Fires just 20 min up the road from St Helen's but at that time of year you wont get a camp site there. You can drive down the east coast to Swansea, Bicheno and Orferd then into Hobart and Port Aurthur. Or you can stay at the top of TAS and go from Bridport to Stanly and see all the attractions in between. If you want some serious 4WDing then go down the west coast. With just a week you wont see that much as there is loads to see down here. It just depends what you are looking for.
Cheers mate.
No 4wding, well not planning on any. More of a sightseeing trip. Have never been there before so more of a tourist route. Thanks for the suggestion, will keep it in mind.
Hi jay see,
Have a look at my post from a couple of years ago, might give you some more ideas.

Jay see, I notice you have another post about fine dining. If you want the best steak in Australia, when in Hobart go to The Ball and Chain Grill in Salamanca markets. We have managed to get to Tas twice and always make it our first meal stop.
where is lucas when you need him! hell dribble all over this thread!
mate where are you thinking of going? your arriving at launceston hey, are you heading south or west or even east? ive been west of lonnie and down as far as the tahune/derwent river, south of hobart, absolutely spectacular! let me know where youre going bud and il throw some suggestions your way!
A must see is The Wall In The Wilderness at Derwent Bridge. This place should be on everybody's list.
We have been back and forward to Tas for over 40years as the outlaws live in Hobart, Last time we were down there we spent 3 months and covered around 8000ks,with about 3000 on dirt and tracks and only back tracking once of about 120ks. We still have only seen about halve of whats on offer over there.
