Hello
Hi,
My name's Gingerboy (Chaz in real life) and I'm a proud Patrol owner - as of yesterday! Very excited...its like a dream car for me - I'm one of those people that always stops and stares at Patrols as they go past on the street, checking out people's mods etc.
So...I bought an MY08 2009 manual, diesel ST from a dealer in Melbourne yesterday after narrowing down a couple of trucks via Carsales. No pics as yet as I havent had it delivered :-( Got to wait a week for the finance to all be sorted out, etc.
Its silver, got a snorkel, bullbar, towbar (which I wont use), and side steps + GPS unit installed. Bridgestone AT duelers, thats it on the non-standard stuff. I dont have a lot of plans for much else really, especially as its on a novated lease. But I'd love to get a dual battery at some stage, then whack a Waeco 50l in the back (as the 3rd row seats are coming straight out!), just to make camping trips a bit more...chilled :xxxx: :D
Cant wait to get it and take it for a spin...probably going to head out the back of Aireys Inlet into the Angahook Lorne NP for a day trip this coming Saturday with my wife and 1 year old daughter.
I've done my fair share of 4wding before; been on a big trip around Aus in 2008 in a '99 Disco (fully modded/lifted, etc) including all the usual spots like Cape York, Kimberley, Old Nullabor road, and a lot of simply amazing National parks (Gregory NP in NT stands out for me) on the way, as well as plenty of smaller trips since including Vic High Country in a hired Troopie more recently. Am well into my camping and am planning a trip up to the Murray later in May hopefully, plus getting up into the snow for the Queens Birthday weekend!
Did I mention I cannot wait to get my hands on my new Patrol later this week!? Haha.
Anyway, glad to be joining this forum, looks like a great place for info.
Cheers,
Gingerboy/Chaz.

Welcome to the Forum, Chaz.
I was interested to read that you have done the 'old Nullarbor road'. Is that the section from Nullarbor to Border Village?

Welcome aboard Chaz

Yes it was exploremore.
It was towards the end of 2008, so my memories of it are a bit hazy...but it was well worth the detour. Saw snakes and camels - which I didn't see on any other stretch of the Nullabor probably due to traffic - and some interesting cave and water hole stops too.
