Positives - get to see Ayres Rock and Kings Canyon [again for me]. Negatives - lots of bitumen. Trip distance 7,183 klms.

Option 2 [the right choice ... lol]
Brisbane to Loveday via northern NSW/western SA [Walgett, Bourke, Malparinka, Cameron Corner, the Strzelecki Track!!, Lyndhurst]
Loveday to Port Augusta
Port Augusta to Coober Pedy
Coober Pedy to Oodnadatta
Oodnadatta to William Creek [via the Oodnadatta Track!!!]
William Creek to Marree [via the Oodnadatta Track!!!]
Maree to Birdsville [via the Birdsville Track!!!]
Birsdville to Longreach
Longreach to Emerald
Emerald to Biloela
Biloela to Kingaroy
Kingaroy to Brisbane

Positives - EVERYTHING. Negatives - NOTHING. Trip distance 6,698 klms.

Hmmmm ... decisions, decisions ...

Either Trip would be Good Scotty. I should Join up at Loveday and do the rest of the Trip with You and then come Home via the Coast.

Will be Retired by then hopefully so will see what can be arranged

That's right!!! I'm on the hooley and thinking about all things travel around this big brown land ... and what better to remind everyone of than the forum meetup next year!! I hope you're all putting away the pennies and planning on being there ... I'm half cut and fully excited at the prospect - everyone bar none that I've met from the forum is top dollar, big spin so this should be an absolute corker!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If I get there and the park is empty ... well ... apart from being disappointed at not meeting you, it'll mean dhuck and I are getting putrid by ourselves beside a big campfire ... and we could do that in my back yard!!! So get cracking people ... only 10 months to go!!!!!!!

Even I'm starting to crack a smile at the 6,000 km round trip. I'm gunna head to Victoria to see my rellies after THE EVENT.

Looks promising that I'll convoy to Loveday, then convoy to Vic - then solo back to WA, unless I come across some Patrols on the way back!!!

Soooo ... what dates is everyone planning on being there? Reason I ask is we have to travel 2000 klms to get there and obviously won't be able to be there on the first days of the Easter Break (same problem for most who are travelling fair distances I'd suggest). What I don't want to happen is we get there after two thirds of people have gone!!

We look like lobbing in around the 9th April ... will everyone still be there by then??

I'm happy to follow the other Victorians...

Good Friday is on the 6th April so if majority of Vics are heading up then, then I will follow on that day and I'll be staying for whatever amount of time everyone else is then shoot across to my mates station.

Maybe a 5 days at Loveday???

My issue will be that wifeys bday on 9th an she WONT wanna spend it at Loveday but i may be able to come back

i recon we have to settle on a fixed date
so we can all meet , after all thats the general idea ????
we over here have a bucket load of klms to do
and we dont want to miss anyone of our mates hay

What about on the Easter Saturday or Sunday?

I think the vics will be there on the good Friday evening.

I'm planning on leaving at 5am to be up there by dusk.

Can't wait for this trip!!!!

So the Sunday for the main meet up date will be the 8th April. I'll prob be there on late evening of the 6th though and stay for atleast a week.

We won't be there till the Monday, but that's not to suggest others can't arrive sooner of course .. We'd just like to meet as many as possible and not miss anyone, but we have to do just on 2000 klms to get there ...
