Hot and dry heat in my home town tomorrow - 43 degs, with a Total Fire Ban thrown in.
Just landed in Melbourne today. Mid November - No worries I thought, who the fuq would need a jumper in mid November? I'll travel light.
Well, apparently it is me! 14 bloody degrees and they reckon its dropping to 8!! WTFingF?
Give me the semi permanent smoke haze of Qld any day. This cold shi.t in what the rest of us think is Summer is just wrong.
How’s the wind this arvo? Wow! Then the dust storm, then the little rain, well, mud drops. The sky looked bizarre!

After a couple of warmer days, back to the usual 31 degrees up here in the rainforest today. Dunno how we'll ever cope with a return to Victoria's constantly changing weather!

Been a stinking dry lead up to the wet, looks like its about to start up here, been 43degC and 5% all day, then lightning rolled in and all work outside has stopped , going to be a wet and wild night by the looks of the site lightning radar.
You know its been a long cold Melbourne winter when last springs whipper-snipper settings don’t fit your new whipper-snapper onboard!

Yep, cooled down here since 3pm, it's high teens low 20s now. Fires to the east, west and north, but not threatening.
Daughters home is in the red zone outside Bruthen at Wiseleigh. 100YO weatherboard, likely to go up, all sitting here trying to make sense of the updates from afar,. They are in Bainsdale and safe, but dreams about to evaporate. the firies are doing what they can, but its a beast out there, hope they all return safe to home tonight.
Yep dry lightning is no good :-(

This is a good site to see where lightning activity is.
www.lightningmaps.org
At the moment you can see lightning activity in a north/south orientation over Victoria, heading east with the front coming across.
And a whole heap approaching Tassie west coast.
First little chopper with bubble on tow just flew low overhead flight path enroute to Mill Park area assuming?

Possibly Mark. Elvis and others have been doing their thing , but the big orange bird just left.
It's getting a little uneasy here. Smoke increasing. Were to the west of it.
Fire services on scan and they're requesting more and more help every 5 mins. The ring road is a never-ending convoy of red sirens.

Legendary men and women no doubt. Bow to them any day!
This local event is a tiny candle compared to the horrors theyre facing to the east.
Just listening in on them again, they are fearing this wind change predicted , and the unknown path of it, big time... It could turn nasty.
That's smack bang both sides of a MFB/CFA boundary. Both urban brigades that will become unified as Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) on Thursday. Sure those paid local brigades have grass fire training but not like the steel-balled country volunteer heroes that protect private property from bushfires and the titanium-balled volunteer rappel and hover exit DELWP firefighters dropping in deep with rakes and drip torches.
Hats off to all the BALLSY vollies who put their lives on the line for COMMUNITY and without the militant union of the pros scoring them dream perks.
And here comes the next lot of rain.http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...2020/04/31.jpg
