and not dramas with the dawes valve TD, ive had it set and forget mate, the mechanic had it tuned to 14PSI on a dyno so thats where it will stay =D
Hi mate, here's some interesting Info I read - worth a try (only found this after I threw out 5 litres of old ATF)
****************
Machinist's Workshop magazine tested penetrants for break out torque on rusted nuts with significant results!
They arranged a subjective test of all the popular penetrants with the control being the torque required to remove the nut from a "scientifically rusted" environment.
*Penetrating oil ...... Average load*
None ....................... 516 pounds
WD-40 ................... 238 pounds
PB Blaster .............. 214 pounds
Liquid Wrench ..... 127 pounds
Kano Kroil ............. 106 pounds
ATF-Acetone mix....53 pounds
The ATF-Acetone mix was a "home brew" mix of 50 - 50 automatic transmission fluid and acetone. Note the "home brew" was better than any commercial product in this one particular test. Our local machinist group mixed up a batch and we all now use it with equally good results.

I think that Irish also had a post on home brew penetrating oils in the hunters thread a while ago.
i mght have to give that acetone mix a go! thanks for the heads up mate!
Bummer about the rim Nic. Spray the hitch with what ever you have and let it do its thing, ie give it a spray each avo after work then next weekend go and find a good tree, attach a strap to it with the tongue and drive away. DO NOT USE A SNATCH STRAP, I can't stress this enough!! And don't be silly about driving off at speed. A nice straight pull should see it should just fall out.
Looks like sum pretty good tracks up there Nicko. Good to see the truck back on the road doing what it loves.
I'd put a drag chain on the hitch and around a tree and drive off - very carefully of course. . . Should do the trick. Just check'n that little bolt that stops it rattling is loose yeah??
. . . .. and the pin is out :o
Yeah I checked for one but I couldn't find it. What makes me think it's rusted badly inside is when I(finally) got the pin out it was all rusted and corroded. I'll get mixing that acetone stuff!! Thanks again for all the advice!!
Oh yeah the tracks were awesome. Rocket and I will have to go for a look when the conditions are better. Rkinskey, u coming?? Todd can even be winch bitch lol
Make sure you have a crack at 6 stage next time you are there
Where did you go Nicko, looks like a cool spot? . . . That river crossing looks like fun :) . . .
I tied mine off to a tree and drove off pi55 easy
It's what I done. Used a tree protector though not a snatch strap haha
Try using coke (the drink) and see if that helps.

Shame about the rim nic.
I'll try the tree, but be gentle with the right foot.
Always good to see a 4x4 where it belongs.
Yeah when I drive down to stay mum and dads.....Just try and stop me.
ok so kris and i reckon the bushes are flogged out at the front end, im chasing Mudski up for the replacements, what do people think of using something like this to remove them? or i could but one but this looks like a cheaper way lol:

Are you talking about the slow cooker/fryer plug next to the sink? That looks interesting, 240vac and a little water ;)
Press these bushes out is the easiest. I bought myself an eBay 12T press for around $150. I've only used it a handful of times so far but I reckon its already saved me paying someone to do it.
i used a press to get mine out/ in and it made it a million times easier. I didnt have a press tool for the bush, but i pushed the center out (rubber bit) and then used a cold chisel to belt out the steel ring. Not ideal, but if your careful its fine. I does take a little while but i used what i had. I then used the press and the old steel ring to push in the new bush. A second set of hands helps. I think it took about 4 hours to do it with a mate. Only do one side at a time as it can be tricky lining the diff back up otherwise.
FWIW I was quoted $600 a side to have mine done at a shop. Cost me an arvo, some beers and LESS then $200 in parts. Genuine parts too.
thanks guys, its been miserable and cold and wet up here and i havent had time to even look at the thing, hopefully ill get a start on it this arvo but sh!t has just been so damm busy. i would have to say that 2015 has been the year of time flying by and having no time for me.
You can say that again mate, I can definitely relate to that theory. I've still got a box of parts on the garage floor to put in but haven't managed to do it yet, and one of them is a fuse FFS!!
does anyone the forum sell steering dampers? i would rather support a vendor from here than a random tom dick and harry from the interwebs.
i was looking on superiors website, there are so many options, i have no idea what is good and what is better, can someone point me in the right direction?
ironman are on here.
If you give superior a call they will be able to point you in the right direction.
Imo I didn't think there was a whole lot of difference between brands, other then some being a return to center and others just being standard. For what it's worth I had a efs jobbie on my car when I bought it and have since replaced it with ome and it doesn't seem to be much different. To me anyways.
Some goodies arrived this arvo
