Heres a very nice Damascus Bowie
@ Kallen it says to use a paste, I was thinking of a mild cutting paste,
but the more I read it was a paste to preserve the strop. So I'm only going to use Dubbins saddle soap.
I love this stuff, still comes in the same round yellow tin from day dot.
Late edit::: OK put some Dubbins on the strop and picked one of my very sharp Mundial camp knives to try.
Blow me down it removes a very fine flap/burr not sure but after a few strops That knife was sharper than its ever been
Now I have to strop all My knives this will take for ever. LOL boders on dangerous that knife now, happy camper again
Not the best picks but the bowie and sheath is an old school Bowie I won '
the other is a Timber Rattler I was sniped at the last minute, but I hope to win next auction.
Check this out fellas. Its a long vid but really really very soopa cool or hot :)

Bummer it never showed the pattern,
won the Timber Rattler this time Yeah 10.5" blade
and my Browning skinner arrived as did my pua shell folder [abalone]
a matching one will hopefully arrive tomorrow
That folder looks nice TD..
Nice TD, is the Browning skinner the same as mine?
Yes just looked handy, waiting on the camo columbia bowie to arrive
looks more like a big schrade sharp finger to me, any blade over 6" and they call it a bowie WTF
Got a pic of the camo knife?
Thoughts on this..

Link didn't work here the camo skinner.
That whole earth shop has some well priced Bowie blanks as well.
Still trying to find the shape of the original "sand bar fight" Bowie
From memory It had to have a brass strip on the spine, And the Spanish Notch
to catch a blade and long enough to use as a paddle, all I know is the first was made from a file.
They say the blacksmith who made it found the real recipe of Damascus, not what we call Damascus today
More research lol Blade size 5" -24"

From what ive read the Indians were the masters of Damascus 1000 years ago, now its sh1t what they produce
The below is a copied post from another forum
It is funny because damascus steel originated over that way in the early 500 - 1000 and the viking sword +ulfberh+t was made of high carbon steel 1000 years ahead of anything else and rumour has it that the indians traded this steel (crucible steel) on the vulgar trade route from 800-1000 ad and the indians at that time were making swords using high quality damascus that they some how managed to imbed nano tubes in the steel which science has only just discovered and no one can replicate it to my knowledge. Anyhow its ironic that the beat damascus was made over there and now the poor grade is made over there. A lot has changed in 1000 years haha!
Great post, yeah the stuff we see is not "TRUE" Damascus as the recipe was lost years ago
Which Indians not the red indian surely its birth place is Damascus , a long way from North
America
Its from india not the "Indians"

Just had a collectors knife delivered. 1 of 53 produced with amber stag bone scales made by Queens Cutlery.
Will take a photo in a bit
sounds good , that whole earth co. is
getting some info for me about their Bowie blanks.
trying to find out if they have sheaths available.
Don't think my 80's bowie will arrive today, maybe
the camo job.
edit;; just checked Queens web site nice knives eh
Whole Earth I have used before, they get some good gear so does ECop.
Some pics
very nice I saw those aged amber stag on the web site, nice display cases too
EDIT:: just looking at the blade its not under cut, that would sharpen up a beauty
Yeah vindaloo ones not the pow wow ones LOL
@ growler why don't you drill and tap the tang on your Bowie knife, grab a bag of redgum firewood from Bunnings.
From all the pieces of wood look for one with a dense wavey grain, cut to suit your tang, sand then buff should come out like pic
@ OD looked up some limited edition buck 110 folders boy are they pricey, some thing for the Kids hopefully
That would work check out some bowie handles some have finger grips that look cool.
use brass 3/16th counter sunk screws ,polished, will look a treat
Yeah the buck 110's are pricey but a damn good knife. Have some friends on hols in the states at the moment so will see if I can get the to grab me 1.
The 10k jade stone just came in, as big as a box of matches, wish the put the size on the add.
Gonna mess around with it later as me and munchkin are about to start making our Rough Rider knife kits we got for xmas
In kit and assembled forms. Awaiting the epoxy resin to dry then we can clean up the pins then sand and polish before sharpening
Really interested in this combo.

Interesting bit of kit
Been reading up on Buck Knives which are the ones I've used for donkey years,
they don't depreciate in value if anything they hold it and go up in value.
I should have done this years ago, if you know anything about the dots Buck put on their knives
from 74 to 85 I think that would be great, it makes sense to buck but no one else
