For people in the
Central Tablelands,
North West Slopes and Plains and parts of the
Central West Slopes and Plains and
Northern Tablelands Forecast Districts.
Issued at 8:01 pm Thursday, 5 January 2012.
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce very heavy rainfall, flash flooding
and damaging winds in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations
which may be affected include Armidale, Orange, Tamworth, Moree, Dubbo and
Parkes. The potential for large hail lessens in the north of the warning area.
Wind gusts exceeding 90km/hr have been recorded at Parkes and Trangie this
afternoon.
The Lighting that was going off in this video was just above our suburb, we were woken upat approx 3am by an almighty crack, almost pooped the bed it was so loud........... can't find too much footage of the storm at the mo. 8 hours later a bush fire started across the way from us at the airport, so were on alert for a while, luckily no homes were damaged.

Cant believe I missed this thread... Love takin storm pics, but can't seem to find anything that Ive takin that stands out from the crowd.
The big lighting bolt was looking out from our balcony in nov 08 and the other a year later... If only I had the camera pointing a little higher in the sky for the first 1.

For people in the Central Tablelands and parts of the Hunter, North West Slopes and Plains, Central West Slopes and Plains and Upper Western Forecast Districts.
Issued at 7:03 pm Sunday, 8 January 2012.
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce large hailstones, very heavy rainfall, flash flooding and damaging winds in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Orange, Bathurst, Gunnedah, Narrabri, Walgett and Lightning Ridge.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony.
* Keep clear of fallen power lines.
* Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.
* Don't walk, ride your bike or drive through flood water.
* If you are trapped by flash flooding, seek refuge in the highest available place and ring 000 if you need rescue.
* Unplug computers and appliances.
* Avoid using the phone during the storm.
* Stay indoors away from windows, and keep children and pets indoors as well.
* For emergency help in floods and storms, ring the SES (NSW and ACT) on 132 500.
The next warning is due to be issued by 10:05 pm.
If severe thunderstorms develop in Sydney Newcastle Wollongong or surrounding areas, a more detailed Severe Thunderstorm Warning will be issued to people in this area.
Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau's website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 218. The Bureau and State Emergency Service would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.
