As for the flag.
I can understand why people may not want the Union Jack in the corner, personally though it doesn't worry me, I love our flag. However, if it was changed, it would need to be a very minor change, remove the Union Jack and put something like the Federation Star, or Uluru in the corner and leave the rest as is.
For me a flag represents our country, not its history, the population mix, the number of languages spoken or any other demographic within our country.
Best wishes to all my fellow Aussies. Let today be our annual reminder of what a great place Australia is to live in & a great nation to be part of. Let us all also try to be tolerant & accepting of the Aussies whom we are yet to understand & to extend the hand of mateship in the true Aussie way.
