My LS1 GQ LWB project

I was speaking to a Guy out Wandin 4x4 show a few years ago and he slotted a SC LS1 into a GQ shorty cut into a ute.
After speaking to him for a while he said he built it to win the Tuff Truck Challenge in Broken Hill, big call as there are
a lot of ifs and ands,,,,,, long story short He won on his first attempt thats a big thing.

As for being a daily I reckon it would be great I had a 350 in my other 4x4,
would loved to have put a SC LS1 and TR700 in it.

I have had massive dramas with one of my parts suppliers, but finally I have my new oil pressure sensor, CAS, and MAP sensors. I was quiet this arvo so I got stuck into it. Fitted the sensors, new rear main seal, new sump gasket, new oil pressure adapter fitting (for aftermarket gauge), fitted the fuel rails and made sure I can still fit the turtle shell. I picked up some adjustable panhard rods from Performance Suspension today also.

Refitted the engine with new header gaskets, made up a bracket to fit my washer bottle, wired the engine, fitted the new pressure reg. and mocked up my flares.

Not a great deal has been happening over the past weekwith the patrol, got the LS1 running with the mafless tune, threw some 10.5mm eagle ht leads on, adjustable panhard rods have been installed front and rear, and started fabricating a right hand snorkel and airbox

what a good read, start to last post. im at the stage of getting a quote for a ls2 in the 98 gu patrol. im soon to sell the 2.8 tdi engine and gearbox in the next few months if price is right

@ DC-auto are you planning on running the air con?

I do plan on running air con, I was hoping to have it installed before it hits the road again, but I just spent a small fortune on a automatic wheel balancer.
The problem with what I'm doing is I plan everything out then f@&$ it all up by improvising as I go. I'm hoping I can still run the compressor line to condenser without fouling on the air box

more stuff done, now metallic gun metal grey, rear bar fabricated and powder coated, snorkel powder coated, stereo rewired, rear barn door central lock installed, rear glass out, new window seals have arrived, new bailey channels have arrived, new pinchweld has arrived, have all the safari velour interior now cleaned, insulation has arrived for the roof, push button start installed, pillar gauge mounts have arrived and installed, rewired half the dash to reduce bulk wiring, LED park lights are in, lots of new or near new interior trim bits have arrived, new mirrors have been fitted. I have only just got the car back from paint and panel on Friday 15th May so it's re-assembly time.

Those flares are mean! I'm thinking about getting them for mine, but $700 is a lot for plastic.
