Hodge's new 4.2

Clutch- will most likely me a pressure plate fault. Probably lost its tension with the way it was used prior to you putchasing it. You may find the clutch plate wont look to bad.

Coil spacers/insulators- you can get these for both top and bottom. The bottom ones are only thin as the coil is retained differently to the top. You dont want anymore than maybe 10mm on the bottom of the coil. Placing one at the bottom is more for noise reduction. Factory they only come with insulators on the top of the coil.

Gearbox- that oil looks like it hasnt been changed in quite some time. It will unlikely effect the rollover noise.

Yeah i think i might have to get some thin spacers for the bottom. Im sure half my noise issues is from the springs.

For what it's worth they shouldnt make noise.....

If the top rubbers are fubar then you will get noise but its a noise that is fairly obvious to to be the springs.

Thanks Mat. The oil, like a lot of things on this car, haven't been touched since it left Japan.
Definitely a bit smoother shifts, but the rollover noise remains like you said.

Clutch, I guess gearbox has to come off anyway so new one will go in while they're at it.

The bottom spacer is more of a dampener. I got it as it gave me 10mm or so bit more lift up front. I didn't like the way the car was road sniffing due to heavier springs in the rear. Now it sits very nice.

Replacement rubber spacers are off tap expensive from Nissan. Your 10mm spacer would have been heaps cheaper. I cut my own on the GQ just for noise. Cut out of 6mm reinforced rubber from Clark rubber.

It's from ARB and are OME branded. I think they are around $20-30 for the set... Have no idea whether that's dear or not.
