Engine dies when changed over to run on aux. belly tank, so changed in-line filters before change-over valve, and also on breather line. Left fuel cap off, doesn't make a difference, so looks like tank is coming out, not happy. Ran ok for the last 18 yrs with original Nissan motor, but for some reason it won't draw with new lift pump and engine.
Had new sump fitted, oil and filter change, new Safebrake Braided lines fitted with complete fluid flush, drives and stops well.
Parked in the shed so the new winch doesnt get dirty and I can drive the cruiser...
How did you go at the mechanic Todd?
Dropped a steel ruler down the front of the radiator , behind the aircon and oil cooler coils - spent 2 hrs trying to fish it out - gave up and left it for tomorrow's job before I wrecked something in frustration.
Found that the hole where the pyro for the EGT gauge had worn and the sensor was loose. Replaced the dump pipe with a brand new one. Max boost now 5psi at a temp of 550deg. Readjusted the NADS and set up again. Boost now north of 28PSI and temps south of 300 deg. Readjusted Dawes etc again. Boost now 15PSI but EGT gone north again. Adjusted it all again and got max boost at 18PSI and normal 10PSI at 100-110. temps around 400deg and max temps at 500 deg(ish.) Good result. Drove hame and lost all boost and temps through the roof again. Forgot to do the lock nut up tight on the Dawes. Chit. Started all over again and all good now. Anyone in Perth wanting help setting up NADS give me a call when you have a week or so to get it done. LOL. Its taken me three days to do what should be a 1 hour or so job.
Took the draws and cargo barrier out, put the dickie seats in, put the road tyres back on and transformed the patrol back into a mums taxi ready for school runs lol ☹️
