Got a new thingy for the air conditioner under the glovebox, looks like a little radiator. Old one was so blocked, no wonder not getting cold. Absolutely freezing air con now :) :)
Fitted 200L fuel tank in rear Pod.

Gave it a wash, then sat and looked at it. I have a meeting with an engineer on friday to discuss engineering the long arms, new shock towers, and an antirock sway bar, if I can get these approved it will take the ute to a whole other level in offroad capability and on road handling. I'm trying not to get excited:smileyvault-cute-bi:bigthumbup:
Fitted additional rubbers (conveyor belting) above the lower chassis to make up for 25 odd years of wear and compression. No more steel contact and no more noises on slow sharp turns. Seems to work very well. They don't make rubbers like they used too!
Cheers

I did stuff and I like the way it looks now..

Yeah stuff........
Other than the 2 extra LEDs on the front what did you do?
Added a bar to hold the light bar and took the big ass roof rack off...... it's now a streamline rocket ship!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The stuff I did to yours was way better. At least with that badge you could tell the world that you prefer the company of other men :p

Put some fresh rubber on her today, ran some wires and hoses for the gauge and NADS, but this bloody rain ruined the rest of the show :S Can't touch her till weekend now.

Took off the HOOK and replaced with Recovery Points. Noice...:trink13:
A question for the gurus... What is the wire welded to the locking nut for?? To hold up the shackle, or is it not required???
Got a hundred or so dings in it from a golf ball sized plus hail storm :/
Sent from my iPhone using Motorculture mobile app
Finished cutting out the rust in the floof and welded patches in. Reduced the size of the big arsed mud flaps.
I think you'll find that the kit is made to fit multiple vehicles, one being the GU. There would have been more nuts and bolts than needed. I'm guessing the ones with the wire are for one of the other models so that you could reach in some space (e.g. inside the chassis rail) and hold the nut while you got the bolt onto it. Not certain, but that's what makes sense to me. Certainly my kit had enough "other bits" to get it all bolted up without needing to use the nuts with the wire on them.
Will be fitting second battery tray to mine shortly
bought a new windscreen washer bottle and motors as mine has disintegrated, so should arrive before next weekend, finally got fed up after 3 years of squirting a water bottle out of the window in order to clean the windscreen
Thanks Cam.
Mine on the other hand came with the two points, four 3/4 bolts with foprives ur smaller bolts, and the two captives with the wire..
@ Trekster how bad is it, totalled, I think RACV down here say car/4x4 is UN RW with hail marks all over it.
Personally I cant see why, hope its repairable at least
Did more to my custom "bar by growler" by triangulating for strength.
Aaaannnnnd put some new stickers On Cheers Lucas
Should strengthen it some what ,,,,,,,,,,,,,are the ends enclosed???
HAhahAHHAHAHAHAHA yup sounds good, but can you keep it clean hahahahahaa
Completely gutted the rear end, cleaned up mud and crap stuck between the chassis and rear bumper area. Probably about 10kg of s*** came out.
Tidied up tow bar cabling with new plug etc... and install the tow bar while I was at it !!! I also took photos of step by step tow bar install, and I'm considering a small write up on it that may help some in the future, as I was in the same boat a while back!
Now kickin' back with a few nice cold stubbies!

Looks good.
I started to re do the wiring to run full body lights. I've pulled it all out.
I'll be re running the wire from chassis to body and tail lights and chassis in New steel conduit for protection.
It always sounds easy in your mind... And then you start...
Attachment 37034
I'm changing a few plugs and putting in new 6 pin water proof plugs..
Attachment 37035
And running New 7 core threw the conduit..
Attachment 37042
So a bit of a job ahead..
Are the pics showing up??
Geez Westy...All the guts is hanging out.....But as you said, will be speccie when done...
Yea it looks bad. For some reason the auto lecky who wired up the trailer plug started from under middle PS door?? So there is 3m of 5core wire from middle of the car to the trailer plug???
Weird.
But why mess with what's started??
Ill tap into this harness for the New lights, splice in the reverse light setup and run it of to either side if the car the split body and bumper from there..
I've completed both chassis to body looms..
Attachment 37088
And a quick pic of the New body lights..
Attachment 37089
And I received step one of the sound deadening..
Attachment 37090
well i was going to replace the cheap plastic guard in front of the steering arms with a new one from bush skinz... had a look and noticed the the right hand side that bolts that hold it in place ( and location of new bolts ) are missing their heads.... the left hand side one came off easy ( after lots of wd40 ) but the other bolt twisted off with no effort at all.... so now i am stuck with 3 snapped bolts...Bugger...
i will have to go to the local mechanic to get out as i dont have a drill or easy outs.. once fitted i will post picks
Looking good westy. Where did you get those tail lights?? What is your step 2 for the sound deadening?
Edit: Malgreen, you could try and drill them out. Use a pin punch and knock a mark in the center of the bolt, then use a small drill bit to make a hole the entire way through the bolt. Then go up the next size and repeat, if you're lucky, you won't have to go to big and the bolt will wind it's way into the chassis. Usually it gets to the one size before you start drilling out the thread and it will remove itself.
I'll be doing the closed cell water proof foam for the second layer.
And the lights from patrol a part.
The top layer has arrived..
