Only slightly...lol...Yeah big difference in the dump pipes Tony!!!
Picking up Rosscos TD42 engine was the best thing I could have done.
Chatting to the guys at Patrolapart and they can tap the oil drain plug in the sump for me which is great.
Also, having a look at Rosscos turbo will be set up exactly the same as mine.
I'm going to remove Rosscos braided lines and just take them all to Pirtek and say "Give me another set of these"...Knowing they will fit the block and turbo....It could not have worked out any better.
Old mate.... When it falls in your lap,,,,,, it really falls in your lap......
Won't be long new.............&......... WooHoo
'Well today I pulled off all of Rossco's oil and water lines and fittings, etc to take to Pirtek next week and match up.
This has worked out perfect so I dont have to guess any fittings or lengths...Super happy!!!
Well undoing the banjo bolt on the water feed turned out to be a nightmare. I slipped with the shifter and pulled my finger nail half out of It's place.
See below....lol....Two fingers in the middle are both my little fingers that used to be the same length....Doesn't look like much but damn there is going to be throbbing pain tonight, can't wait!!!!....LMAO.
Always use the right tool for the job mate...............not shifters...lol
Mate!!!!!! I can't wait to see and hear this thing finished, nice one......
Hi Tony and CO....
I put my turbo onto Rossco's engine today to see how the original TD42T oil and water pipes lined up and what I could utilize, etc...
I need to ask if you think I could utilise the full length of the water feed pipe and tap into it as per attachment or is that too close for a rubber hose to the heat off the manifold?
I'm really not sure if this is too close or not...It would perfect though....If not, I will just get it cut down next to the turbo itself and utilize the banjo bolt set up off the turbo.
Here are some other photos which may help someone else out at some stage.
I think that would be too close to fit a rubber hose considering you won't be fitting a heatshield initially, a high temp braided hose would be OK.
If you were to cut the pipe between the left and middle arrows (first photo) then it should be OK for a rubber hose and would also leave the front mount for the pipe in place, you could easily make and fit a small heatshield over the front of the exhaust manifold for added protection.
Tony
Thanks Tony, I'll do that, much better idea and the flow should be ok up there without a severe bend.
Also, as below...I'm pretty confident I can utilize the oil feed pipe onto mine as well.
The below picture is a proper scale line of the oil feed and how it can be bent down to fit over the TD42 N/A feed bung. Both the TD42T and TD42 N/A oil feed holes on the block seem to be the exact size too.
I also just put the pipe over my knee and bent it a whisker and it seemed soft without any feeling of cracking, etc so I will get an extra small banjo bolt and see how I go.
The beauty is I can hook my manifold and turbo up to Rosscos engine and try to roll the pipe very carefully and match it up to his hole which is obviously the same.
Have your boost and pyro gauges arrived yet? If/when they do start mounting them and run the wires for the back lighting so all we have to do is connect the thermocouple (pyro) and hose (boost) to get them working. It will save time doing it this way as we need the gauges for tuning.
I now have the tools for checking TD42 injector pump timing so we may be able to check that as well and adjust if necessary.
Have you got the hoses and clamps to connect the alloy inlet pieces between the turbo and inlet manifold?
Tony
Yes, I picked that up today.
Not yet, should be in tomorrow at the latest....My exhaust just turned up today...Can't wait to fit that puppy!!!Quote:

Do I Just run them to the ciggy lighter plug, I think Paul mentioned this the other day?Quote:

Great stuff, thanks again Tony!Quote:

All of the lines will be done by Wednesday. I will pick them up and also pick up some new manifold gaskets and dump pipe gasket.
This weekend I am going to connect every single component up to Rosscos engine and make sure it all fits and figure out if I am missing anything.
Will report back with photos, etc soon!!!
Getting excited!!!
Exhaust has arrived....Super excited about this one...I can't wait to hear it roar!
The Iphones take pretty crappy pictures...lol
Looks like things are coming together for you mate, well done
Just ordered the manifold gaskets and dump pipe gaskets from Garry at Nizzbits.
Great bloke to deal with and very quick. I want to get the proper manifold gaskets and make sure this turbo is done right!
Getting the sump plug put in on Saturday and then I will fit up the whole turbo, lines, etc onto Rosscos TD42 engine in his shed this Saturday and make sure I have everything.
Apart from the below, I think I am good to go!!!!!
- Tap 3/8 BSP to sump
- block pcv holes
- air filter
- Missing clip for air filter housing
Well folks I am completely done now and have all the parts for the turbo!
Trevor from Pirtek on Canterbury Road in Bayswater is the man to speak to for getting your oil and water lines, etc. Very helpful, actually cares about what you are doing and charged me bugger all for all the work he has done...
Patrolapart in Lilydale are helping me out to by putting the plug into the sump tomorrow morning for the oil drain at an insane mates rates price!
Big write up and piccies coming your way soon...Give me a couple of weeks though...LMAO
Nice one, AB.
Pics please.
Rossco
Had a great day of Patrols today!
Took Rosscos new TD42 back to get some studs taken out that had snapped in port 6 of the manifold (block) which was nice of them to do for free.
Oil drain has been plugged into the sump, no leaks and they did a fantastic job!
Here is the comparison of a standard dump pipe off a GU turbo and my 3" straight through dump pipe...Big difference!

Hooked up the turbo with all the lines today onto Rosscos TD42 and was one happy chappy that all the lines fit perfectly!!!!
Attachment 6917
Mate cant wait ta hear that turbo sing
Almost there!!!!!!!!!!!
Just put the airfilter housing in, connected it up to the 4" snorkel, connected breather pipe, etc...
Fitting the 3" filter outlet to the 4" snorkel was absolute carnage!!!
Lots of chopping, grinding, shaving and precise measuring to reduce down from 4" to 3" with about a 65mm gap to play with and to also tighten up clamps.
I just have to fit the pyro and exhaust and then I'm done!!
Crossing all fingers tonight when I fit the exhaust tomorrow....Praying that the hangers fit on the exhaust!
looking like a bought one AB.
I'm surprised you're in a hurry to put the exhaust on, go for a blast around the block without the exhaust first!
Did you mean to post the same photo twice?
Tony
I thought the turbo likes back pressure?
The car is wedged in my shed and I need someone to guide me out with the 75 point turn but I wouldnt mind cranking it over atleast!!!
I wont be able to sleep tonight...LMAO....Like a kid at Christmas!!!
p.s...It's two different photos but thought one may be fuzzy.
I wished I had that original flexi hose from filter to turbo. I used rubber elbow and s/s pipe on mine, kind a hard to open the filter cover because it doesn't flex. I've been looking around the local wreckers but didn't find one..
Noooo AB.. back pressure is evil!!
Give her heaps with no exhaust mate.
I'm a bad influence...................
Tony
ARRRR!!!!
I couldn't start it up last night, just remembered I had no coolant/water in the radiator from draining it for the turbo install.....lol...Lucky!
Just waiting for the sun to rise and I'm running down the shed!!!
Literally had 5 hours sleep lastnight....lol
bummer mate! Make sure you get us a vdo with sound mate Can't wait ta hear it
Looks great AB, job well done mate
Finally finished!
Sounds awesome, no leaks and drives a million times better!
Short little boring video below that isn't too exciting but I'll get it tuned up next week and get the injector pump leak fixed and put up some better videos, etc.
Love the sound of turbo, especially when It's on your own car....lol
Can't wait to take it out for a bash now!!!!!
